We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful MANOELA WUNDER. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with MANOELA below.
MANOELA, appreciate you joining us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
I remember my very first gig as a musician. I was in college and my friend recommended me to an orchestra in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Up until that point I had only played in my college orchestra, so the experience of going out of town and performing in a professional ensemble with musicians from all over the country was truly eye-opening.
MANOELA, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Manoela Wunder and I’m a musician and singer-songwriter. My main instrument is violin but I play most strings, keys and trumpet. I’ve been playing violin all my life, but I only decided to become a professional musician during my senior year in high school. I completed my degrees in violin performance in New York and Chicago. Since moving to LA, I have been an active local freelancer. I provide entertainment at private events, concerts, and dining establishments. I also record and arrange strings for albums and movies, and I write and produce my own music. I help set the mood for any event and can provide any combination of instruments the client wants. I am most proud of the unique sound of my playing and compositions; it really highlights how diverse my musical influences are.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is being able to express myself through my art and to connect with people over shared experiences. I believe music is the most powerful way to relate to someone and it reaches further than words ever could.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started building my following by attending local open mics and shows and connecting with other fellow singer-songwriters and music fans. I also engaged with followers of followers online. I would suggest the same approach for those starting out. You’re killing two birds with one stone with this approach, because it’s a great way to build your fanbase and an audience for your local shows.
