We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Manny Arceneaux a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Manny , appreciate you joining us today. Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
My hero is my mother Chandra Arceneaux. My Reason for that is because she was a single parent and every statistic society places on a kid born inner city with limited resources is bound to end up in jail, take the wrong path, or stuck between a rock and a hard spot. To watch my mother not complain once and always being able to find ways to make ends meet was a huge motivation for me in life to FIND A WAY NOT AN EXCUSE. The sacrifices that were made that I know reflect on since I’m an adult with my own family just reminds me of her super powers and that’s being a Mother.
I’m now entering my 14th season as a professional football player in the CFL. But the journey to get here wasn’t the smoothest. Being a Zero Star, No Offers, and not highly recruited it’s goes to show you it’s not how you start but how you finish.
At the end of the day it’s just so much I can thank my mother for and so many words that can be used. She was a pillar that held everything together like glue & has always been in my corner. Her Hardwork and Work Ethic sticks with me every single day of my journey along with the Bible scripture Jeremiah 29:11
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I wasn’t good enough to make the final cuts for football 8th Grade thru 11th grade. Over the summer I grew 12 inches giving me an opportunity to be starting the WR & FS going into senior year.
On my birthday I broke my wrist and everything I worked so hard for felt like it was for nothing, but given the chance to return for the final 3 games I earn full ride scholarship to Alcorn State University,
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
You’re not a product of your environment but a product of the decisions you choose to make.
So often we blame others for our misfortune or mistakes and never take accountability for self.
