We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Mandy Corrente a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Mandy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?
I actually started my creative career really young—I recorded my first song when I was 5 years old! So I don’t think I could have started any sooner, and I wouldn’t want to start later either. I feel like everything has happened at the perfect time for me.
If I had started later, I might have missed out on learning so many things early on—like how to perform live, how to be on camera, or how to handle big moments with confidence. Starting young gave me time to grow while doing what I love, and it also taught me how to balance work, school, and having fun.
Looking back, I wouldn’t change a thing. Every step has helped me become who I am today, and I’m just getting started!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi! I’m Mandy Corrente, and I’m 11 years old. I’m a singer, dancer, and actress—and I absolutely LOVE performing! I started singing when I was really little, and I recorded my first song when I was just 5. Since then, I’ve released over 25 songs and have been on TV shows like The Ellen Show, Despierta América, and Premios Juventud. It’s been such a fun journey!
What I do is create music and videos that make people smile, dance, and feel good. I sing, I dance, I act—and I also love coming up with ideas for my videos and choosing my outfits. I even help with choreography sometimes! My songs are usually about fun things like friendship, confidence, and following your dreams.
I think what makes me different is that I’m super involved in everything. It’s not just someone telling me what to do—I really love being part of the creative process. I also try to stay positive and be myself no matter what. I want other kids to know they can do big things too, even if they’re still young like me.
The thing I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come at such a young age. I’ve worked really hard, but I’ve also had so much fun along the way. I want people to know that my brand is all about having fun, staying true to who you are, and chasing your dreams—no matter how old you are!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Yes! My mission is to bring happiness and joy to the world through my songs. I really love what I do—singing, dancing, and performing—and I hope that when people hear my music, it makes them smile, dance, and feel good. That’s what keeps me going! I want to spread positive energy and remind everyone—especially kids like me—that it’s okay to be yourself and have fun while chasing your dreams.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding part of being an artist is seeing people smile or dance to my songs. When someone tells me that my music made their day better or that they listen to it all the time—that makes me so happy! I also love performing on stage and feeling the energy of the crowd. It’s the best feeling ever! Knowing that something I created can make someone feel good is what I love the most about being an artist. 💖
