We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Mandi Finkel-jimenez. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Mandi below.
Alright, Mandi thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
The kindest thing anyone has ever done for me is my husband Ron’s unwavering belief in me and support for my dreams. When we first moved in together in LIC, I was searching for an office space for Quintessential Therapy. Within a few months, I found one, and despite the extra costs, Ron encouraged me to go for it. Six years later, even during challenging times when I contemplated shutting down the office, Ron stepped up once again. He found a way to secure the funds we needed to keep the business going. I am truly thankful for his constant support and belief in me, which has been truly instrumental in helping me achieve my goals.
And he gave me 2 beautiful babies, that I can never thank him enough for.
Together, my 3 gurus have each changed my world in beautiful. meaningful and loving ways.
Mandi, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Mandi is a mom of 2 beautiful babies and wife to an amazing husby. She’s a licensed massage therapist + sound healer & the founder of Quintessential Therapy, which is a health conscious massage therapy and wellness businesses, created for community healing.
We offer therapeutic massage, fire cupping, assisted stretching and group/individual/couple sound therapy sessions plus Acupuncture.
Mandi also loves curating Wellness parties, corporate or private events, journaling and Sage bundling workshops, etc.
Mandi handpicks her team to bring an experience unmatched to your typical spa massages and services.
Our space is intentionally created by Mandi, to be a safe space offering an array of healing and therapeutic sessions, housing a well rounded, intuitive and knowledgeable team.
Mandi has 6+ years running her wellness office in LIC. And has 14+ of experience in the massage field, catering to clients’ with a unique combination of techniques, she also has a small line of all natural products that she creates while at home with her babies, such as lip balm, cbd bath salts, hand sanitizers, etc. You can shop on etsy or during your appointment in our wellness suite. We’ve also recently launched virtual items on our etsy shop : Mandi crafted a Manifestation Journal + Workbook, a Chakra Journal and some pre-recorded soundbath meditations ; you can also find some of the soundbath meditations on our YouTube channel.
Mandi enjoys creating soundbath meditations because she would like to show people that there’s no particular structure that you have to follow when you’re meditating. You can meditate while anywhere or while doing anything, if you put your mind to it. Soundbath meditations are like meditation’s easy cousin (lol), the sound frequencies are like a little relaxing massage all over and they affect water molecules. Our bodies are made up of about 60%+ of water, so it has a positive effect on our body’s cells / tissues and organs because they rely on water in order to function optimally…plus, it’s absolutely no experience necessary.
And she crafts these sessions into easy digestible portions with crystalline alchemy singing bowls and chimes with the frequencies that most relates to the chakra that needs some TLC (according to what each soundbath meditation is about); she’ll also make short movement meditations for daily rituals: such as, making your morning coffee or to listen to while taking a shower, traveling to work. etc. She also creates magical soundbath meditation journeys for children (or to help heal your inner child), so they can relax during their bath time, brushing teeth, imaginative play, and much more!
Our goal is to meet everyone where they’re at on their own personal journeys and we feel that healing can be fun, when you find a like minded community to heal alongside. We hope to see you on our massage table soon. 🪷🧚🏽♀️✨🪄🧘🏻♀️💆🏽♀️💫
Have you ever had to pivot?
As a solo entrepreneur who established my office in October 2018, I found myself wearing many hats, including managing administrative duties, engaging with clients, and providing services both in-office and during house calls. During my pregnancy in 2020-21, I recognized the necessity of pivoting / adapting my business model to accommodate my upcoming “maternity leave”. As a small business owner, I didn’t know how or what that would look like for me, but I was eager to figure it out.
Despite the uncertainty of the situation, I proactively sought solutions. I formed a team of five licensed massage therapists to cover shifts, and enlisted the assistance of a trusted friend for administrative tasks and client communication. This adjustment required constant effort, even as I was recovering in the hospital postpartum.
As I settled into my new role as both a mother and team leader, I encountered challenges with payroll, daily operations, and legal aspects of managing a team. Concurrently, I embarked on a personal journey of self-discovery and healing, learning to navigate life from a healthier perspective. This included processing grief, letting go of unrealistic expectations, and distancing myself from negative influences.
This period of growth and adaptation was crucial in teaching me the importance of resilience, self-reflection, and adaptability—
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
Without hesitation, I can confidently say that I would choose the same profession if given the opportunity to go back in time. My career as a massage therapist has been an incredibly rewarding journey, providing me with the unique opportunity to share love, healing, and knowledge with others. I find great joy and fulfillment in my work, particularly in leading individuals on their personal healing journeys and introducing them to a wide array of healing modalities.
The last six years have been especially gratifying, as I’ve been guided by my intuition to integrate crystalline alchemy singing bowls into my wellness practice. Witnessing my own children engage with the healing power of sound through playing my crystal bowls and experimenting with Tibetan bowls has been a beautiful and heartwarming experience. I feel blessed to be able to teach them the art of creating healing music at such a young age and exposing them to various wellness practices like massages, yoga, QiGong, and soundbath meditations.
As I continue on this path, I look forward to seeing the positive impact that this harmonious upbringing will have on their development, as they learn to approach the world with a mindset that is different from traditional societal teachings.
