We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Manasseh Croft. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Manasseh below.
Manasseh, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Learning the craft is often a unique journey from every creative – we’d love to hear about your journey and if knowing what you know now, you would have done anything differently to speed up the learning process.
I grew up singing at home and church with my mother. I later on was inspired by family to stretch my ear and embrace all sound. Eventually, I went on to collaborate with amazing individuals of whom are my friends. My gifts are from God. my skill level is a result of iron sharpening iron.
I think being open to learning has been most essential in my journey. I think the biggest obstacle has simply been time. We’re all roaming about the world living our lives and we sometimes get stuck on autopilot. I’ve been learning to slow down and make more time for refinement. I’ve also learned that “doing it afraid” is the way to go sometimes.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a songwriter, vocalist, vocal arranger and curator. I enjoy creating vocal textures. I’m slowly moving into the world of making sample packs. I also thoroughly enjoy helping fellow artists execute their various projects- managing the moving parts. It’s stressful enough being an artist and having to delegate responsibilities. That’s where I come in! i contact the studio(s), band, producer(s) and engineer(s). I work side by side with the artist to action their artistic needs.
Personally, I’m most proud of the music that I’ve created with my friends. It’s always something magical…spiritual about being in the sane room with loved ones creating sounds. My goal is to always create space for those who are open to sharing their gifts with the world.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that just because I do not have a formal musical education, that I’m NOT a musician or a creative. Let’s just say that someone I once respected made me feel less than and it crippled me for years. But several years later, I’ve been blessed to release a few projects, be featured on some awesome records and on t.v. as well.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I won’t go into full details! But I will say that my life has been such a rollercoaster. There’s been so many times that tested my faith and discouraged…ultimately pushing me towards depression. But with God and the encouragement of those who love me, I was able to push through. I still have my days where I feel down, but I think about how far I’ve come. And through that, I’m able to give myself some grace.
