We recently connected with Mallow Frenchie and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Mallow, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.
One of the most meaningful campaigns we’ve ever worked on was a Toyota campaign in 2023. We were fortunate enough to be invited to St Augustine on a brand trip, and they were awarding the top influencer a $5,000 donation to a charity/non-profit of their choice. We won, and were able to grant $5,000 to Paws4You, a volunteer-run animal rescue in our neighborhood. This was one of the most rewarding experiences — to be able to give back in such a significant way and so close to our hearts, all because of the support and love from our followers. Huge shoutout to Toyota and their generous, creative company and team.
We have also worked with Miami-Dade Animal Services to take shelter pets out for the day on field trips, and been able to support countless local and small businesses on our Instagram throughout the last 10 years. All of these opportunities make us feel so good, and we always have so much fun giving back and spreading the love!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Our Instagram, @MallowFrenchie, is a team of dog-mom Gina and superstar frenchie pup Mallow. Ten years ago, I was starting college and had just moved to a new city. I found Mallow and my life was forever changed in the best way. We started the Instagram just for fun, and never imagined it would grow the way that it has!
I am most proud of what we’ve created together throughout the years with our following, our brand partnerships, and our content. We both have so much fun with it and get to work with so many cool people, animals, hotels, restaurants, companies, etc! Mallow has been featured in Forbes twice, and I still gasp when special emails like that come into our inbox. It really has been a dream come true.
If I have to choose, what I enjoy most is all the staycation fun we get to have. We travel all over with Mallow, and of course, everywhere we go is pet-friendly. We’ve been lucky to stay at epic resorts with the best views and amenities, we’ve tasted some of the best foods at the fanciest Miami restaurants, and we’ve gotten to work with all of our favorite brands (and discover so many new ones)! Everyone loves Mallow instantly, and it’s a joy to be able to share her special, sweet puppy love with the world.
We strive to bring happiness to our followers and to share the best finds and experiences. I hope that people come away from our Instagram with a smile and some new spots to visit!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I would say the most rewarding aspect of our “job” is the fact that my dog is my co-worker and best friend. There’s much more flexibility in a role like this than any other job I’ve had, and I appreciate that every day. I enjoy setting my own schedule, choosing who we want to work with, and being the leader of my own brand. Having fun and keeping stress low is one of the secrets to a long, happy life. I consider Mallow the light of my life, and I feel blessed to create content that is appreciated and valued by our audience of fellow pup lovers!
How did you build your audience on social media?
In the beginning, our growth felt like a fluke. I started Mallow’s Instagram with the simple intention of not coming off like a crazy dog mom on my own personal Instagram. I figured it was time to make Mallow her own page and share her funny, adorable personality with the world. I noticed it really becoming successful when we hit 5K, and 10K quickly followed. When brands started reaching out, I was surprised and excited, and we just went for it! Mallow always made it easy. She was born a star, and literally smiles and poses when the camera comes out. Aside from Instagram, I feel so lucky to have her in my life. She is a real life angel on earth and top tier cuddle bug.
Sometimes I still can’t believe what we’ve built together, and all the incredible experiences and gifts we’ve received. I believe the key to our success, and the advice I would give to anyone else starting out, is authenticity. I create photos and videos of Mallow, with my humor and voice in the captions. It was always a unique blend of the two of us, and people have responded so supportively over the years! Don’t make it complicated or try to do exactly what someone else is doing — trust your inner voice and just post!
