Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mallorie Robinson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Mallorie, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What was one of the most important lessons you learned in school? Why did that lesson stick with you?
The most important lesson I learned in school was to “find a way or make one.” I graduated from the illustrious Clark Atlanta University, and “find a way or make one” is our school’s motto. When I stepped on campus during my first-year orientation, that motto began to be instilled in me and would remain with me throughout my life. It means when we are faced with the impossible, failure is not an option. You must find ways to get the desired outcome of the goal you are trying to accomplish. Never let anything hold you back. You must have the ability to face difficulty with spirit and initiative. Take a chance, be daring put yourself out there. Applying this mindset has opened a lot of doors for me. By being persistent, I’ve knocked down obstacles and checked off quite a few things on my bucket list. Simply put, I don’t take no for an answer.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
I am a part of the digital designers’ industry. My main focus is website design, but I also dibble and dabble in logo and graphic design. My job is to help clients bring their brand to life online.
Myspace is how I got started with website design. For the younger audience, Myspace was like the first Facebook, except it gave you complete control to design your profile using HTML code. Believe it or not, I frequently changed my Myspace profile by adding background music and pictures and designing different layouts.
After graduating high school, I knew I wanted to study something STEM-related. So, I obtained my B.S. in Computer Science from Clark Atlanta University. For my senior project, I had to redesign and develop a new prototype of our school’s financial aid website. That was my first ever web design project. I received an A and graduated! However, my thirst for STEM studies did not die. I then went to the University of Alabama at Birmingham and received my master’s in Information Engineering Management.
Before moving back to Atlanta for good, my first job was as a web developer for the City of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. That is where I could put my web design and development skills to work professionally. My most significant achievement there was developing and implementing the city’s website.
Life Now: I wanted to entirely focus and have the freedom to design whatever I wanted, so I decided to step out on faith, move back to Atlanta and start Mallorie Noelle Designs. Since then, I have developed 100+ websites!
What sets me apart from others in the industry is the design experience I provide. You want your online presence to deliver clients and leads, Mallorie Noelle Designs will keep people engaged with your website so you can share your vision with the world! The “look” will not be my only focus. My designs will appeal to visitors and help them see your company and brand through user interactions, visuals, and mobile accessibility. Every aspect of your site will work towards a clear goal. Through this holistic web design process, I will consider both look and function by producing a design that caters to the user experience.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being a creative is seeing a new idea come to life. I get so excited when a potential client has reached out to me for help bringing their business online. This means I learn about a new industry, how it operates, and what drives that type of consumer. My job as a web designer is to ensure that my client’s business stands out from its competitors online. I want my clients to be top of the Google search. It is rewarding to receive good feedback from my clients about the impact my web design has had on their brand. It’s also satisfying knowing that I have helped a business become reachable globally just by having a user-friendly website.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
For me witnessing my growth as a creative is what is driving my creative journey. It’s like the more I create, the more I learn. I have an intense desire to become a subject matter expert in the web design industry. With the advancement of technology, especially social media and e-commerce, I must stay aware of current trends and designs and in the know of how people interact with these new advancements. To be successful in anything, you should always want to grow in that area; you should always want to know more and contribute to the knowledge base of that industry as well. Seeing where technology will be in the next decade drives my creative journey. I do not want to get left behind in this ever-evolving industry.
