Malissa , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. What was it like going from idea to execution? Can you share some of the backstory and some of the major steps or milestones?
Hello and thank you for allowing this opportunity! Wow, idea to execution, what a fun stage in the business during this time!
Currently PLAY.ISH LLC Onsite Event Childcare offers a bespoke and luxury childcare service to the wedding, special events, and corporate industries.
However, rewind to the following days, weeks, and months leading up to our grand launch announcement, and I’d say it felt tedious with shorter days and longer nights.
Our execution process begin with research, gathering information from local businesses within the events industry, speaking with families, newly weds, etc. until we felt confident enough to say, hey, this business is needed! Not only was it a confidence from within, but the feedback received on the business was amazing from those we’d spoke with.
After collecting data, it was important that the PLAY.ISH LLC brand be considered a reputable, respected, and professional service company at all times. The goal was to ensure we stood out among other entities such as babysitters, or placement agencies. We were looking for a separate lane!
With that said, Once our LLC was in place, getting licensed and insured was ideal! Feeling more established in this business, it was time to be seen, build awareness through avenues of vending, networking, being outside and interacting with the public, anything to get the word out about who we are and what we do! Most importantly, making sure we connected with other reputable businesses who’s missions aligned with ours. These things were crucial in rolling out phase.
Quick backstory, In being transparent, I’d like to say that the official month, and specific date of our launch tends to get really blurry. If you’ve followed the story of PLAYISH LLC, we were originally a Mobile ECE (early childhood education) Provider in the mist of 2020.
I Malissa Green, Owner of PLAY.ISH LLC, come from a traditional classroom environment as an ECE teacher. Working with children and families wasn’t the hard part!
I had knowledge and understanding of childhood development, learning aspects, and some childhood disabilities, stemming from my educational background.
The hard part for me would be transitioning and translating all of my education and knowledge into a successful business, carved out for a completely different industry. The question was, “Will this work”? Will the events industry accept what were offering?
Once the official launch announcement happened in February 2021, the rest is history!
Pleased, Excited, Inspired, Thrilled, Overjoyed, and the list goes on of how my emotions took off. I’m still pleased that we can help families and children in a unique way!
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hey guys! I’m Malissa Green, Mother, Wife, Teacher, and Business owner. I’m a natural caregiver, rooted in family practices.
The combination of teaching children, working with families, understanding the importance of selfcare, and the allowed time of year 2020, ultimately pushed me into developing the business of PLAY.ISH LLC Onsite Event Childcare. Our business was specifically designed for the wedding, special events, and corporate industries.
Thinking from a parents point of view, especially with young children, if you don’t have a nanny, worried about booking a babysitter, or little family support system, you’ll probably end up turning down many event invite opportunities!
Listen, I am that parent! It was easy to relate to one or more reasons why I would turn down event opportunities. This is why, once the idea and vision were formulated, it was a no brainer that I would put a lot of focus into this venture. With our business, I am proud to say that we help parents party in peace and keep a peace of mind with our unique Event Childcare Services.
Our approach to detail during the planning process of our event childcare spaces, is what sets us apart from other competition. We focus on safety and awareness of our spaces, age group, and appropriate activities for children’s developmental growth.
The main thing we’d hope that potential clients can take away from our business/brand is that were passionate, and forward thinking when it comes to providing Event Childcare. We look forward to enhancing the experience of special events big or small and no matter the occasion.
We work effortlessly to accommodate different requirements, budgets and creative styles! We recognize the social demands of parent needs and understand that each family unit is different. We bring all of this cognition into one safe, child friendly and fun space which is a direct positive impact to families and children!
Have you ever had to pivot?
The short answer is Yes! In year 2020, PLAY.ISH LLC was initially a business that would provide mobile, early childhood education to family homes of young children.
With this idea, the learning aspect was a top priority and I’m happy to say it did well, it took off and had some family engagement and membership. However, by the time childcare restrictions were lifted and childcare centers begin reopening, my ideas for mobile learning with existing clients and future clients begin to take a backseat to the more permanent placement of daycare.
It was simultaneously during this time that I sought out another need for the family and child dynamic that would pivot into PLAY.ISH LLC Onsite Event Childcare.
This was the best backup plan/pivotal choice that I could have made. In this new venture of Event Childcare, it took off like wildfire. Once certain necessities were in place, the services sold themselves and it was really cool to watch the brand take off in such a way that wasn’t originally thought out or expected.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I’ve said this before, building a clientele to entrust you with their children is no easy task, and rightfully so!
The market of childcare in any form will be difficult initially, however being present, answering questions efficiently, having a friendly professional demeanor and putting the clients needs first will really help. Also, sourcing out reputable businesses that will vouch for your business! These are definitely things I believe helped to build our reputation in our community.
