We recently connected with Malik Taylor and have shared our conversation below.
Malik , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today We’d love to hear about when you first realized that you wanted to pursue a creative path professionally.
I knew I had creative gifts within me since a child. I was always involved in church plays and various other projects as a kid. As far as video creation and editing I’ve been doing that since the 6th grade. I would record funny skits of me on Facebook and post them for my friends to see. Of course it wasn’t edited like now lol just 20 mins straight of me switching characters but I loved it!

Malik , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Ok so I got into the content creation world by just recording videos of me. I’ve been making content since vine days but it wasn’t until 2018 when I started taking it seriously. For there I started my YouTube channel and created different IG skits and videos. My IG started buzzing due to my Greek content, but my YouTube channel was flopping at the time. However, I just liked the journey and process of it all so I really didn’t care. Now I’m grateful that my YouTube channel is doing fantastic as well as my IG and Tik tok, but it was a lot of work that had to be done.
Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
It’s a lot of work that goes into this lifestyle. Researching material for a video can take days, recording videos can range from 20 mins to an hour, and editing literally can take days. It’s a lot of things that have to be. That’s why I created a schedule to help me along.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The people that I vibe with. I love that fact that I can create content for other like minded individuals and have a safe space. It feels great to know that!
