We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Malik Green a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

Malik, appreciate you joining us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?

coming up as an only child with no siblings for the majority of my life i wanted brothers and sisters some likeminded people to call family which lead to us naming the team Fomily Means Everything

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

i got into music & production because of my love of creating music. Here at FME productions we offer a wide range of services such as music distribution, promotion & marketing, recording/ mixing & mastering services. One of the problems we solve is we actually provide whichever artist we’re working with the support and team they need to pursue their music career. By having a good team behind you it simplifies a lot of complications you may run into while being on your music journey. What i am most proud of is the growth i’ve seen in our artists in the short 2 year period we’ve had them.

How do you keep your team’s morale high?

The greatest advice i can give is having a deep level of understanding & communication. without those 2 things i believe any team will fall apart.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

A lesson i had to unlearn is doing everything by yourself. Growing up in the conditions i’ve had to grow up in were taught to be self sufficient and not ask for any help because of fear of it being used against you in some sort of way. As i’ve gotten older i realize the importance of building up trust and having a real team by your side no one does it alone no matter how many people claim to be self made.
