We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Malia Williams a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Malia, thanks for joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
I spent years trying to come up with the perfect name for the brand that didn’t exist physically, but was very real in my mind. It had always been a personal challenge of mine to hone in on one specific idea (or name) which is why I took the extended track to finishing undergrad.
MALIAS HOUSE came as a suggestion from a business partner at the time. When she presented it, I knew the name, MALIAS HOUSE communed with my spirit and was divinely inspired by God.
MH is more than a physical space, it’s an invitation to my inner sanctum. In Jungian psychology, what happens inside a house happens inside ourselves.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Malia Williams is a career-woman, wife, mama, small business owner, and part-time content creator. As a 21st century woman juggling a multi-faceted and passionate life, Malia’s mission is to serve a market of modern women by sharing tools, resources, and a honest community to grow and thrive with.
In a season of life where she craved the tools needed to organize her ever busy life, Malia noticed a gap. A gap between the life she’d always imagined, and the one she was living. A gap in the industry for not only paper goods, but a female-led community that could encourage and challenge one another.
In her pondering, Goodbloom was born. GOODBLOOM IS A SUSTAINABLE PAPER GOODS BRAND DEDICATED TO EMPOWERING WOMEN TO LIVE THEIR MOST BEAUTIFUL LIFE.
At a dark place in her life, Malia found light in healing, community, and love. Now, she wants to share the light with everyone around her.
In a world that moves at warp speed, a life of slowness and intentionality seems like a luxury. But Malia Williams’ mission in life is to correct this misconception and to bring others into the same rooted lifestyle she has created for herself.
Malias House is a digital diary, an outward expression of inward growth. A place for honest conversation about family, faith, wellness, and self-development.
Through community-focused content, Malia continues to grow her influence over her following.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
As a little girl and into my adult life, my dad would always tell me, “FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION.” It’s a lesson that has helped me navigate the many seasons in my life including teen motherhood, undergrad while broke, marriage 0099, and motherhood 1101. Whenever I felt like giving up, I subconsciously heard “FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION,” which shifted me into “find a way or make one” mode.
This lesson has helped me accomplish so much, but in this new season, I’ve had to unlearn this lesson in business and in life to align to a more grace based lifestyle. Where I once believed failure was not an option, I now look at failure as an opportunity to learn and grow. A forever favorite quote of mine is, Failure is not the opposite of success, it’s part of success – unknown. I shifted my mindset from fearing failures to embracing them because it’s in the failures that I have an opportunity to develop my thinking, my skill, my business, and my life.
On of my favorite scriptures says it best: James 1:2 says, consider it pure joy when challenges come because that’s when you’re developed. It’s in the development stage that God can do his work.
Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
The grass is greener where I water it and the same is true for my mind. I wanted to conquer the world but I had to start with myself. The first step I had to take was shifting my mindset.
