We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Malenge Creative. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Malenge below.
Malenge , thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk about social media – do you manage your own or do you have someone or a company that handles it for you? Why did you make the choice you did?
We manage and handle our social media channels. We initially hired someone to manage our social media, but quickly realized that for this to be truly effective, you need a deep understanding of your own brand identity. You have to be clear about who you are, what information you want to share, and what content will truly engage your audience. It’s important to differentiate yourself from competitors while still showcasing your work as a portfolio, since nowadays, social media is often the first place people look to learn about your brand, even before visiting your website.
Running social media is like managing an entirely separate business. However, the process forces you to clarify your brand’s identity, define the kind of content that represents you, and understand what resonates with your audience. Once you’ve gone through this, you’re in a much stronger position to hire someone. You can give them specific guidance on your expectations, and they can quickly align with your vision of how the brand should be presented.
One key lesson for other business owners is that even though it can feel overwhelming, social media has become your brand’s first impression. It’s essential to be clear on how you want to be perceived and why you’re the better choice over competitors. Until you have that clarity, it’s best to handle your social media in-house. Once your identity is well-defined, hiring someone becomes easier and far more effective because they’ll know exactly what your brand stands for.
Malenge , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We are Marta Castellano and Maria Aramburu, co-founders and creative directors of Malenge Creative, a full-service creative agency and event production house based in Los Angeles. Originally from Spain, we relocated to LA in 2015 to pursue our passion for design and entrepreneurship. Our cultural background has been a key influence in developing our unique approach to creating dynamic and immersive experiences.
At Malenge Creative, we specialize in producing entertainment events for music and content, private events, and immersive brand activations. Our services range from event planning to creative direction, fabrication, design, and marketing and PR. We work with a wide range of clients, helping them bring their vision to life while creating memorable experiences and events that connect with their audiences/guests.
What makes us different is our ability to combine creativity with functionality, tailoring each project to reflect the identity of the brands we collaborate with. Marta’s experience in developing large-scale event concepts and Maria’s background in interior design and visual direction, allow us to deliver elevated, one-of-a-kind experiences. We’re proud to go beyond the usual and bring something special to every event
Our main goal is to help our clients stand out, whether through immersive experiences, brand partnerships, or creative event concepts. We’re passionate about collaboration, authenticity, and making sure every event leaves a lasting impression.
Have you ever had to pivot?
A pivotal moment for us was when Maria and I decided to combine our strengths to start Malenge Creative. We both came from different industries but realized that our skills were the perfect match for building something new and more important, together. Maria came from the interior design world and set-design, where she developed a deep understanding of how to curate and design spaces under high-pressure conditions.
Marta came from a marketing background, having curated events and large-scale parties in LA. Her focus was on PR, logistics, and connecting people, which complemented Maria’s strengths perfectly. The turning point came when we were approached by an alcohol brand to produce a three-day event in LA, featuring cocktail curation, dinners, and bartenders from around the world. We took the challenge, and it’s when we realized how well we worked together and, most importantly, how much we loved doing it.
That experience made it clear that we shared a passion for creating immersive, impactful events, and from there, we decided to officially launch Malenge Creative. It was the perfect pivot, combining our unique skills into a business that thrives on creativity and collaboration.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
Maintaining strong relationships with our clients and fostering brand loyalty is essential to our success. We prioritize clear and consistent communication throughout every project, making sure that our clients are involved in the process from start to finish.
Even though communication is key, we go above and beyond to deliver personalized, memorable experiences for each client. We take the time to understand their brand’s vision and tailor our creative vision to meet their specific needs, making sure that every event or activation reflects their identity.
After an event/ project is done, we remain available for future collaborations, keeping bringing fresh ideas to the table.
But we also check in with clients, not just to review the results, but to make sure they’re satisfied and also have their thoughts on how we can further improve.
Lastly, fostering brand loyalty for us is about building genuine relationships. Our goal is always to be more than just a service provider, we want to be seen as partners who are as committed to the success of our clients as they are. That shared commitment is what keeps them coming back to Malenge Creative.
