We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Malas Sicarias. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Malas below.
Alright, Malas thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
The biggest risk we’ve taken was betting on Malas Sicarias, not just with our money, but with our time, energy, and hearts.
We believed so deeply in the story we wanted to tell, two best friends navigating chaos with loyalty, humor, and heart, that not creating it felt like the bigger risk. So, we went all in.
That decision paid off in ways we couldn’t have predicted. Through Malas Sicarias, we established ourselves as writers, producers, directors, and actors, true multi-hyphenate creatives. We learned the ins and outs of pre- and post-production, built a community of collaborators, and most importantly, proved to ourselves that resourcefulness and belief can take you further than certainty ever could.
At the end of the day, that’s the spirit of Malas Sicarias, two women who always figure it out, no matter what. And honestly, that’s exactly what we did.

Malas , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
We’re the creators, writers, and producers of Malas Sicarias, a comedy-action pilot born out of our love for Latin culture, female friendship, and a little bit of chaos. Think Kill Bill meets Insecure, with hoop earrings, trap beats, and emotional intelligence.
At its core, Malas Sicarias is about two women rewriting the “bad girl” narrative. We wanted to show Latina power in a way that’s funny, fearless, and layered, where women can be soft and savage, sensual and strategic, spiritual and still ready to throw hands if necessary.
What makes us different is that we’re not creating from the outside looking in, we live this. Between us, we’re dancers, boxers, coaches, and performers who’ve spent years in the creative trenches of Los Angeles.
Beyond storytelling, we’re also building spaces, on and off camera, where women feel seen, celebrated, and capable of expressing all sides of themselves. Monica is a fitness/boxing coach and Cristina is a creative confidence and self-expression coach outside of pursuing entertainment. Our work as creatives, producers, and coaches centers around helping women tap into confidence, sensuality, and self-expression without apology.
What sets us apart is our ability to merge worlds: movement and filmmaking, spirituality and street culture, laughter and healing. We bring heart and humor into everything we do, while still holding a high standard for execution and impact.
We’re most proud of the community we’re building around Malas Sicarias, a growing audience that sees themselves in the duality of our characters. Right now, we’re focused on bringing the pilot to life, expanding our creative universe through digital content, and finding partners who believe in the same vision: women taking up space, having fun, and owning their main character energy in every frame.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
Our particular goal with Malas Sicarias is to complete a 5 episode series. We want this to be the first of many projects that our production company creates. We see ourselves making other short films, series and content that inspires and entertains.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding part about being a creative is working with other like-minded creatives to create the bigger picture. Learning how to pivot when things don’t necessarily go your way, and making the most with what you have. We love seeing our dreams come into reality. To have a thought, share it, and then have a tangible product is so rewarding.
