We recently connected with Malaezia Davis and have shared our conversation below.
Malaezia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Do you have a hero? What have you learned from them?
One of my biggest hero’s is my mom . Although she isn’t in the Fashion Industry through her selfless work within the non -profit world , she taught me some core values that can aid in my success in any field. She has taught me that “Proper Planning Prevents Poor Performance” & how far just an “idea” can take you. With her constant work effort to provide hot meals & resources to families in need even during the COVID-19 pandemic she has shown and inspired many to stop at nothing when it comes to something your passionate about. & that where there’s a will there’s a way. She has pushed me to be the best version of myself simply by providing an abundance of love to not only me , but to the entire world.
Malaezia, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Years ago , before I was fully able to tell how talented I was on my own I used to purchase wholesale handbags and fashion items to resell. I mainly did it because of my passion for fashion also to make some lunch money ,while in cosmetology school. However , it never gave me that fulfillment I truly wanted even if I was making money . I knew that it wasn’t unique enough, it didn’t scream “ME” when I would see another business with the same bag. it just seemed sort of redundant for what I actually wanted to accomplish. I decided the only way to truly stand out is to literally make it your own. So I started making sketches directly from my imagination using some inspo from some of my favorite big/small designers . Although it’s a bit slower when it comes to making money that fulfillment of making something from a sketch on a paper to an actual prototype is exactly what I wanted.
We’d love to hear your thoughts about selling platforms like Amazon/Etsy vs selling on your own site.
For right now we are an E Commerce business , As the world is changing i figured it would be convenient to stay online as we build our clientele and revenue. It seems as though we are in a world of technology and everyone’s more into their phones than actually going into stores . Not to mention, it’ seems like the safer option. So I guess you can say one of the main pros is being able to be shop while in the comfort of your own home.
One major con I can think of Is my supporters not being able touch , feel , see , and try on my fashion in real time without placing an order . I plan to open “pop-up” shops and/or studios in the near future to provide that experience.
