Hi Makeupbyjakki , thanks for joining us today. Day to day the world can seem like a tough place, but there’s also so much kindness in the world and we think talking about that kindness helps spread it and make the world a nicer, kinder place. Can you share a story of a time when someone did something really kind for you?

I have had a lot of people that have come into my life that have had a tremendous impact on my life, some more than others. Keya Delarge who is one of my BEST friends took me under her wing as a Makeup Artist. She always called me to work with her and even let me work side by side with her on her Clients. She didn’t have to do it, but she did and I’m so grateful to have a friend like her.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

I got into this Industry like I said before by certain artists who took a chance on me. I then started attending classes of established Makeup Artist in this Industry who saw my talent and recognized my hard work and took a chance on me as well.

In this life your not always going to find those who will help you, because life is all about being selfish and looking out for one self. When you find your tribe of people who got your back, you stick with them and nurture them. I love when my clients feel comfortable around me, trusting me with how they want their look to feel. That’s important to me as an Artist. How I make my clients feel sets me apart from the rest, I make them feel like apart of my family and my Artistic Journey.

My Brand Makeup by Jakki is very important to me, it’s how I started in this Industry. The relationships that I have nurtured with other brands has made my brand stronger in a sense because they know they can trust me. My brand is built on Trust!!

My work is very clean and pure. Building a healthy lifestyle provides you with having healthy skin that makes makeup application a flawless one. That is what I’m most proud of, educating my clients towards living a healthy lifestyle that will make them proud.

Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?

My whole career as a TV and Film Makeup Artist has been based on resilience, meaning that with my hard work and drive I was able to join the local 798 union. It’s a dream that I always knew I wanted from the start. It sets our Career aside from just a regular makeup artist that work on just clients. Our clients are celebrities because we work a lot on TV and Movie sets.

I love my career, I get the chance to see character building and acting on some of the best shows on the big screen and TV.

Any advice for managing a team?

Managing a team can be quite a task. because of different personalities. I think making your job fun can provide your team with a sense of home, reinforcing to them that we are family and the things we say and feel are always important.

Being in this Industry can provide certain ones with a feeling like they’ve better than others because of the opportunities they receive. It should always be understood that to who much is given, much is required.
