Makayla, appreciate you joining us today. So, naming is such a challenge. How did you come up with the name of your brand?
My social media brand name, Boughetto, perfectly encapsulates my unique personality. I incorporate slang into my language and I indulge in the finer things in life. My goal was to create a brand that stands out and leaves a lasting impression on my followers. As a foodie influencer, Boughetto is the perfect brand name to share my reviews of bougie and ghetto food spots in my city. Get ready to experience the best of both worlds!
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have always enjoyed documenting my day-to-day activities for social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube. It was only after one of my Instagram videos gained 81,000 views that I began to focus on improving the quality of my videos, especially those that showcase restaurants in Jacksonville. I have trained myself to consistently produce high-quality footage and have been learning how to grow my social media presence. By understanding my algorithm, I have been able to attract a lot of attention from people in my city and have received positive feedback. Though it was initially a struggle to figure out how to get my videos noticed, I have since learned how to use the right tools and techniques. However, I still face challenges in staying consistent with my posting schedule and collaborating with business owners who are not interested in working with me. Despite this, I am passionate about what I do and take pride in promoting local restaurants in Jacksonville. My personality is what sets me apart, and I have demonstrated this by adding a restaurant scorecard to provide honest reviews for my viewers.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I enjoy receiving positive feedback from my followers on social media, particularly from those who consider my page a safe space to share their opinions on food. It’s always heartwarming to receive personal messages from them, acknowledging the good that I’m doing for my community. Hearing diverse opinions and views of the places that I review in Jacksonville being shared on my page motivates me to post more. Being a content creator has been a great reward, and I am very appreciative of how far I have come and how quickly I have exceeded my expectations.
Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
When I first started creating content, I didn’t have access to a lot of resources that would have been useful. I wish I had known about the importance of camera quality and about other creators who offer similar promotion services. If I had learned more about the tricks of the trade earlier, I could have avoided some of the struggles I encountered and achieved success more quickly.
