We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Makaela Isaacs . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Makaela below.
Hi Makaela , thanks for joining us today. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?
At the prime age of 5 years old my parents encouraged me to order my own food when eating out at a restaurant. If I had a question about an item on the menu, I was the one asking the waiter. My parents’ encouragement to talk to strangers and stick up for myself ignited an excitement to meet new people and have confidence which largely contributes to my success today. Fast forward about 10 years later…hunger, exhaustion, and a drained social battery couldn’t stop my excitement of tapping the shoulder of the stranger next to me on the plane ride to New York. Meeting new people inevitably brings me joy and has always been a great way to connect with people and network. I’ve met some of the most insightful and interesting people by simply saying hello and asking them questions about their lives. In fact, this is how I gained my first client! So next time you are on a plane, or in a room full of strangers, introduce yourself, ask someone how they are doing, or simply just smile. You never know what one small conversation could turn into!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
“101 Essays that Change the Way you Think” by Brianna West is a book I could recommend to everyone and anyone. Brianna West dives into pursuing purpose over passion and embracing negative thinking. This book has allowed me the open mind that is necessary when encountering all different types of people and also failure within business and life.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Upon starting my business I felt lost and overwhelmed. I didn’t know how to niche down and couldn’t find a sense of direction. I took a months break from research and work upon feeling defeated and exhausted. It wasn’t until I came across this quote: “Although you can’t control your feelings, you can control how you respond to them and that’s where you have the power” that I got back up on my feet. This quote stuck with me and inspired me to respond to burnt out feelings with a sense of resilience and effort; a sense of power and intentionality to pursue my goals.
