Mailynn, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s start with the story of your mission. What should we know?
The story behind my mission is to be able to help my students and future students to become their own boss and have financial freedom while making their client look and feel beautiful all at the same time.
Mailynn, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I first got into my industry right before covid (lashing) BUT I been in the beauty industry on and off for over 10+ years. To be honest I was in a dark place in my life when I was at dead end jobs and tired of people laying me off or even threating to fire me. I knew from the moment my old boss told me she would have to let me go and from that day on I knew I had to take a change. Once I signed up for a lash course it’s been up from there and I never looked back. Once I started to lash no lie I wanted to quit but I told myself “Failure is NOT an option” as I kept practicing and got better, I knew I wanted to teach to help new lash artists have it easier than I did. That’s when I went back to my mentor to get certified to become a lash instructor. Since then I decided to create my own brand so my students have the best lash supplies out there. People outside looking in may see I am successful but honestly in my mind I don’t think I am till all my students and everyone around me is successful too.
What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
At first lashing was just going to be a side hustle for me but during the pandemic my business grew all by word to mouth.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
Def my customer service skills and my personality. It’s always a vibe in my lash class and studio.
