We were lucky to catch up with Maija Hahn recently and have shared our conversation below.
Maija, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Have you ever experienced a times when your entire field felt like it was taking a U-Turn?
The field of speech pathology has changed considerably. When I started they were adamantly against ABA for autism but now embrace it. We are in a current shift now with Spelling To Communicate/ SPELLERS Method where ASHA continues to dismiss this Alternative Augmented Communication training for non-speakers of autism even when 1000’s of these non-speakers have had success and are now advocating for other autistic non-speakers to have access to this therapy.
Maija, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
1995: I started out as an ABA therapist for severely-profoundly affected children on the autism spectrum. Those parents said the MMR caused their children’s regression.
2003: I became a speech pathologist specializing in a autism and training and setting up autism classrooms/programs across the west coast.
In 2006 we had our 1st child and decided to spread out the vaccines.
2009: our son regressed into autism. But I was in denial and refused to believe it was the vaccines I allowed him to get
2012: our 3rd baby was born and she was hospitalized within hours of her 2mo vaccines (high fever, vomiting, seizures… progressed to 7 food allergies, even allergic to my breast milk, tics, and autoimmune disease that made her allergic to the sun).
The healing journey began.. it took YEARS. I eventually went back and looked at my son’s vaccine records and crossed referenced he medical chart and to my horror discovered he was having vaccine adverse reactions after every vaccine. Since then I have become a full-time advocate and activist for informed consent and now my husband and I run an autism organization called Research and Education for Autistic Children (which started with those parents back in 1995 that I originally worked for). https://reactforhope.org/

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
My story is that of a mother and provider who observed the massive increase in autism… saw the damage done to countless children and their families, including my own. The journey of working to heal our children and save others. My life is now grounded on a mission to advocate for people on the autism spectrum and to educate the world on greatest lie ever told; vaccines don’t cause autism.
The road is long, the attacks are frequent, but I will continue to share the truth until my dying day and save as many children and families that I can.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
I had to learn how to look past the propaganda, to do my own due diligence as a provider and a parent. I had to learn how to find and understand the independent research and understand biology and mechanisms of harm from ingredients in vaccines. I also learned about a variety of other toxins that contribute to autism and I lecture frequently on the top 5 toxins causing harm to our children.
