“Taking a Risk — The Journey of Mahesh Sriram” Hollywood actor. South Asian
Stepping Into Acting & Modeling
“Taking a risk isn’t about being fearless — it’s about believing in something before the world sees it. My story began when I decided to step out of comfort zones — as an actor, a model, and later as an entrepreneur.”
“I didn’t come from a film background, but I had a passion for storytelling and presence. My first risk was saying yes to opportunities that scared me — auditions, shoots, or moving across cities to chase projects.”
Evolving Into an Entrepreneur — The Birth of Pixels Multimedia Production Studio
“I realized creativity didn’t stop in front of the camera. I wanted to build something that could create stories, visuals, and brands and also mentor others in creative career— that’s how Pixels Multimedia/Pixels Academy was born.”
The Vision Expands — Desilife™
“The next risk I took was building a media platform — Desilife™ — to spotlight stories of success among South Asians. It’s about celebrating identity, culture, and ambition.”
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
My journey has really been defined by taking risks and believing in possibilities before they were visible.
I started out as a model and actor, acted in more than 50 brands and working in lead roles in Hollywood and international films, drawn by the energy of storytelling and visual expression. What began as curiosity soon became a calling — I found that each project, whether a photo shoot, film, or commercial, allowed me to explore different emotions and connect with people on a deeper level. I’ve had the opportunity to work with national brands and travel across the U.S. for various creative assignments, which taught me how versatile and disciplined this industry really is.
Over time, I wanted to expand that passion for storytelling beyond my own performances. That’s when I took another big leap and founded Pixels Multimedia — a full-service creative and production company. At Pixels, we focus on visual storytelling through photography, corporate films, ad campaigns, and multimedia solutions. We work closely with businesses and brands to craft narratives that not only look good but also communicate a purpose. Our quick turnarounds, attention to detail, and cinematic approach have helped clients bring their ideas to life in a meaningful way.
What sets me and my team apart is that we approach every project with both a creative eye and a performer’s understanding of emotion and audience connection. My background in acting helps me bring out authenticity in every frame — whether it’s a corporate story or a lifestyle shoot.
I’m also proud to be building Desilife™, a media platform dedicated to celebrating the success stories of South Asians across the world. Through interviews and visual storytelling, Desilife™ highlights how individuals balance culture, identity, and ambition — something I relate to deeply.
If there’s one thing I’d like readers, clients, and followers to know, it’s that my journey is driven by passion, purpose, and the willingness to take risks. Every step — from acting to entrepreneurship — has been about evolving creatively while staying grounded in storytelling. Whether it’s on screen or through Pixels Multimedia, my goal is always the same: to inspire, connect, and create lasting impact through visual stories.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, the most rewarding part of being an artist and creative is the ability to touch people through emotion and vision. Whether it’s performing in front of the camera or creating visual stories through Pixels Multimedia, it’s all about connection.
As an actor and model, I get to live many lives — to express emotions that people sometimes can’t put into words. When someone connects with that moment, feels inspired, or simply smiles watching a scene, that’s the greatest reward.
As an entrepreneur, I find that same fulfillment in helping others tell their stories. When a client sees their brand, film, or idea come alive through our work at Pixels, it’s deeply satisfying because it means we’ve translated their vision into something real and powerful.
Being an artist isn’t always easy — it involves uncertainty, risk, and constant growth — but the beauty lies in that journey. Every project, every frame, every story reminds me why I chose this path. The reward isn’t fame or recognition; it’s that feeling of knowing you’ve created something that moves, inspires, or changes someone’s perspective, even for a moment.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
One big lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that everything has to be perfect before you take the next step.
Early in my career, whether it was acting, modeling, or starting Pixels Multimedia, I used to wait for the “right” time — the perfect script, the ideal project, the perfect plan. But over time I realized that in creative work, there’s never a perfect moment. If you wait too long, you miss opportunities to grow and learn.
The backstory really comes from when I was launching Pixels Multimedia. I wanted everything to be flawless — from branding to equipment to the type of projects we’d take. But the truth is, I learned the most when I just started — when I took risks, made mistakes, and figured things out along the way. That’s where the real progress happened.
Now, I believe in progress over perfection. Every project, every shoot, every performance teaches you something new. Perfection isn’t the goal — authenticity is.
