We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Maggie Jane. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Maggie below.
Maggie, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I feel like I knew when I first gained awareness, well at least my soul knew. I believe that any person that is on a creative and artistic path professionally is just allowing themselves to be who they really are. We are all creatives and we all have an artist within us. Those who pursue it professionally are the ones who stayed connected to their inner child. A connection we all long for. Realizing that now is what really made me want to pursue my creative ideas professionally. I am one year into my creative journey, and just a few months in full time. Before going full time, I was serving at multiple restaurants and spending my time working to live, as most do nowadays. But I knew that I did not want that to be my forever. I always knew that I would be really successful and I always knew that I had something powerful to offer the world. I just didn’t know exactly what that was. But I started allowing my inner child to come back up. I started allowing myself to speak my mind, and do the things I want to do, and learning how to let myself be without any judgement. I started reading self help books, my first one was The Code of the Extraordinary Mind by Vishen. That book completely shifted my mind and my beliefs and it relit the fire in my soul. I kept reading, kept learning, and kept loving myself. I started to clear out any and all negativity from my life, whether it was in the form of people, beliefs, materials, or environments. I wanted everything in my presence to be as peaceful as possible. The moment I started prioritizing myself and my energy is when I realized that I only wanted to live my life for myself. I let go of my belief that I have to work for someone else, and the belief that I have to “work” at all. The beautiful thing about having a creative profession is that you are never working. You are simply creating and being yourself. And I am never going back.
Maggie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My journey in the creative world has been so magical, and it all started when I moved to AZ from Illinois at the end of 2021. I was coming with the mindset of really trying to love and discover myself and my passions. I set that intention when I moved out here and the universe answered it very quickly. I found my first modeling and acting audition just two weeks after moving out here, and it has been nonstop growth, opportunity, success, connections, and love ever since. I am officially a full time model, actress, art model, and creative director. My work consists mostly of paid partnerships with brands, modeling for artists and painters, and connecting with local designers to help creative visions and ideas come to life in the form of a new campaign, an event, or finding talent for their upcoming projects. What I love most about what I get to do each day are the connections that I make with so many different artists and creatives. I love hearing about others passions and visions, I love being apart of so many different events, ideas, and projects, and I love being the muse for artists, it is all really so magical. Modeling for artists is such a beautiful experience. It is not only helping me love myself more, but it is helping me have more love and appreciation for all the different types of artists out there. The feeling of working with someone who is fully tuned in to their creativity is something that is truly so powerful. A feeling that takes over your soul and fills it with love and gratitude. And that is what it is like to work with me.
I would have to say that I am most proud of my never ending growth on this journey. I have evolved into an entirely new being, in the sense, that I have let myself be, I have let go of judgement for myself, I let my creative ideas flow, and I allow myself to be vulnerable and open with any person I can. This state of pure love and passion that I am in is something that most people never get to experience. They let fear take over and they don’t allow their inner child to flourish. I am proud of myself for facing my fears, my years of trauma, and any obstacle that has come my way. I face it all with love and with the mindset that everything is happening for me, not to me. My mindset is always evolving in such a beautiful way and I don’t think there is a word that truly describes that feeling, other than pure bliss.
Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The goal that is driving my creative journey is to spread as much love and inspiration to as many people as possible. And to create a safe space and platform for people to not be afraid of connecting with themselves. I grew up as a young girl that would always dim herself down to let those around her shine. I never believed that all of us could shine together. That just didn’t seem possible. I always believed that if I was shining, then it would take away from others lights. But that is not the case at all. Eventually I realized that the only thing that happens from allowing myself to shine, was that I was lighting the path for others to find their light. The more light in the world the more people can easily find their inner light. That realization pushed me to becoming the person that I am now. The woman that will always be there to push you outside of your comfort zone and help you shine your light as bright as possible. Being someone that dimmed herself down has given me the power to see that trait in others. So many of my friends now will tell you that I just snatched them up and made them realize that they are capable of anything. That is my goal for anyone that I come across on my creative journey. I believe that we are all powerful beings here on earth to create freely and experience ourselves and this life from a space of love. So being able to help others reach that within themselves is so powerful and meaningful to my soul and life purpose!
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I absolutely love this question and I hope you love this answer. Instead of lesson, I like the term belief. A belief that I had to unlearn is that I was put on this earth to work my life away to make money that is entirely made up to pay bills and taxes, and to “deal” with negative things and people, and I have to stay away from strangers, and that I am meant to grow up and “stop acting like a child” and that I am NOT meant to simply be and experience and enjoy the beauty that life is, and to eat food that loves me back, and THERE IS SO MANY THINGS. If you couldn’t tell, there are multiple beliefs that I had to unlearn, but I believe that they all fall under one major belief. That belief is that any one person on this earth is more powerful, valuable, or better than another. We are all from the same source, the source of life, and we were all put on this perfect earth to enjoy the perfection of life. And many people will read this and say “oh there is nothing perfect about life at all, we are all imperfect”. Isn’t that such a crazy belief that you’ve been fed your whole life? That life is not perfect? CRAZY. Life is absolutely perfect because everything runs on vibrations and frequencies. Each person’s reality is a reflection of their vibration and the things that are aligned with that specific vibration. For example, let’s say we have tom here, and tom is always negative and is rude to other people and constantly complaining. Every feeling that tom has is sending out vibrational signals to the source, life, and the source is responding accordingly. Which means that tom is receiving not so great experiences, most of them negative. Still following? Now let’s say we have patty here, and patty is this vibrant and positive being, sending love to everything she can. All of these feelings that patty has is sending vibrational signals to the source, life, and the source is responding accordingly. Patty is now receiving so many beautiful experiences that are full of love, because those are the things that are aligned with the vibrations she is sending out. Life will ALWAYS send vibrations back, in the form of experiences, that are aligned with the vibrations you sent out, in the form of feelings. That is a lot to take in right? But what about that is not perfect? Life is responding to the exact feeling that you sent out. Sounds perfect to me. I could go on and on about this topic and belief but I will let you learn more about that on your own. But that is really the major belief that I had to unlearn. The belief that life is happening to me and not for me. I realized that my experiences were solely a reflection of my internal state. I started working on that internal state, filling it with more love, gratitude, and appreciation for the things in my life, good or bad. Because at the end of the day my “bad” might be someone else’s “good”. So learning to have gratitude for literally everything in my life. Because of that, my experiences are truly so beautiful and full of love and passion, in every little moment, it’s really amazing. My life is absolutely perfect.
