Alright, Mae thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Do you wish you had waited to pursue your creative career or do you wish you had started sooner?

I wish that I had started my creative career sooner, but as they say blindsight is always 20/20 right? Ironically enough, even though I do wish that I had started my creative career sooner, I do also feel that I also started it at the right time. I truly believe in divine timing and I had to grow through some things before I was ready to show up authentically to this aspect of my life. What is meant for you will find its way to you when you are ready!

Mae, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?

Hola Mis Muñecas! My name is Mae Renee, I am a Model & Actress holding it down in H-Town!

In conjunction to my creative career I am a mama bear, an advocate for mental health, as well as women empowerment – I live to support my fellow boss babes!

While most of my work is commercial and print modeling, I have been known to strut my stuff as a high fashion runway model, walking in several shows in New York and Texas. I am also a brand ambassador for multiple local and national boutiques. Supporting local businesses and brands, especially those that are women owned, is my jam :)

I am always open to meeting local creatives and businesses and collaborating, to be the muse that brings your project to life!!

How did you build your audience on social media?

How I built my social media audience, was through consistency, learning, and patience…sooooo much patience.

Maintaining a social media for your brand is a full time job, even more so when that brand is yourself.

One thing I learned was to literally just be, well ME! That can be a lot harder than it sounds on social media believe it or not.

We are our own biggest critics, but I found that just showing up authentically in every post and story, brought the right people to me :)

You slowly learn what your audience wants to see from you through each post. I personally provide a lot of sass while uplifting you to conquer your dreams as we drink mimosas and meditate. It’s a wild ride on this side y’all! lol

Think about it like this…..Rome wasn’t built in a day. Chances are when starting your brand socials, you aren’t a pre-established home name.

That means you need to put yourself out there a little more. I don’t believe there is a super secret algorithm per say for social media, but I do know that if you keep showing up for your followers, they will continue to do the same for you, and hopefully invite a friend or two to help spread the word ;)

At the end of the day, give yourself some grace. You’ll learn how to connect with your audience in due time and build a community all your own, and it will be stupendous!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

For me, the most rewarding aspect of being a creative is being able to express myself in a way that sets my soul free.

In the words of Confucius, “Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life”.
