We were lucky to catch up with Madison Wade recently and have shared our conversation below.
Madison , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you learn to do what you do? Knowing what you know now, what could you have done to speed up your learning process? What skills do you think were most essential? What obstacles stood in the way of learning more?
As a hairstylist, I learned my craft through a combination of education, hands-on practice, and continuous learning. I went to the Aveda Institute in Denver and had a great experience learning the ins and out of the industry which was a 1800 hour program. After school I jumped into an apprentice ship program and spent 2 1/2 years learning from the best mentors and taking on going classes. I believe as an artist the learning does not stop which is also the beauty of being an artist. Looking back I appreciate the time I took to master the craft and I love to educate others and keep learning. Some obstacles I faced was being hard on my self as an artist it is okay to make mistakes.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I’m a Denver native who has always been drawn to the world of hairstyling. There was something about walking into a salon—the creativity, the transformation, the energy—that captivated me from a young age. Knowing this was my passion, I went straight to cosmetology school after high school to build my foundation in the industry.
Eager to refine my skills, I joined the apprenticeship program at Matthew Morris Salon and Skincare, where I had the opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business. That experience shaped me into the stylist I am today, and now, with 10 years behind the chair, I not only love creating for my clients but also educating and inspiring others in the industry.
Over the years, I’ve developed a deep passion for all things color, from rich, dimensional hues to bold transformations. I’ve also found my niche in bridal styling, fashion, and editorial photoshoots, where I get to blend technical skill with artistic expression. Whether working behind the chair or on set, I love bringing creative visions to life and continuing to grow in this ever-evolving industry.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
I strive to make others feel like their best selves, I love how much a new look can do for someone’s confidence. The friendships I build working with clients is something that keeps me in love with what I do

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For myself the most rewarding part of being an artist is seeing the end result. Sometimes it’s just the transformation of a color or haircut and other times it’s seeing images of a wedding style or photoshoot you’ve worked hours on.
