We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Madison Pivonka. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Madison below.
Alright, Madison thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?
I had the opportunity to be in a music video in my junior year of college thanks to a close friend who knew a rising artist in LA. I flew two nights later to Los Angeles and spent less than 24 hours in California filming a music video for the artist “JANE”. It was an exhausting process for sure coming off of no sleep, but it was so worth it! Having a music video on my resume and meeting an amazing group of people was something I never expected to happen. The dance community is all about who you know, and I was so thankful for that first professional job.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Having tried a variety of other sports (even karate which was not for me besides the kicks) I landed on dance around the age of 8 where I met some of my best friends through competitive dance. Once you dedicate so much time to a certain art, you can’t go a day without it, and that is me with dance. I danced in high school, and college, and have now completed my first professional contract on a cruise line. My journey did not just include dance, I found other passions such as arts management and nutrition which are fueling other goals in my life. I love the journey that I am on, and I am not afraid to put myself out there to see what the world has for me to experience!
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to unlearn was to please others first. Yes, I think we should be selfless and help others. However, a lot of my choices were based on what other people wanted me to see and be, which became exhausting. So now, I strive to do what makes me happy while still taking advice from my mentors.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
This sounds backward but I think my past is fueling me to help others not repeat my mistakes. I went through a time when my overall health decreased due to my goal to look a certain way. So now I want to make sure health is the focus when I speak about nutrition and wellness.
