We were lucky to catch up with Madison Orange recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Madison thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Earning a full time living from one’s creative career can be incredibly difficult. Have you been able to do so and if so, can you share some of the key parts of your journey and any important advice or lessons that might help creatives who haven’t been able to yet?
Because I have found many avenues of my expression, when I combine them all I some how am able to make all my bills every month. I’m still trying to get to the point where I have extra or a savings but the fact I can pay my bills just as an artist , I’m grateful. I’ve made it happen because if I do multiple creative things, it all adds up at the end of the month sort of thing. Being focussed and clear headed is the only way I feel this can be accomplished.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am an open format DJ. I research the event and play music that’s most fitting for the scene. I also am a fire and LED gogo dancer specializing in Hoops. I perform on moves and tricks that match the music to create a visual show along to what music is being played. I came up with this concept in 2006 when I was 16 and went to my first Burning Man.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect is being able to create special moments for people to get out of their heads and enjoy the right now. Entertain them and connect them to the moment.

Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn old habits that didn’t serve me and got in the way. From substances like alcohol or bad relationships. Those will set you back from roaching your goals and discovering your purpose
