We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Madison McCain a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Madison, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
Whenever the time came when I knew that I needed to take the leap of faith to go full time into photography it was so scary & nerve wracking but whenever the doors starting to open up for me I knew that everything would fall right into place for me. The scariest part was trusting the process of not knowing what it would look like but what was even scarier for me was staying complacent & not taking the risk.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I have been in the wedding photography industry for about ten years now, I fell in love with being apart of wedding days & see how in love the couples were with each other & being able to freeze those moments in time for them to look back on for years to come.
I knew from then on I wanted to be apart of these moments & make this my career & to never lose sight of the honor it is to be able to do what I do.
My goal is to always make the day as easy as possible & relaxing for not only the bride & groom but for everyone who has strived to make the vision of the day come to light.
I feel like what sets me apart from other photographers is that I do not want to just get the wedding day over with but to slow down & be in every moment. We will never get this day back so why try to rush through it?
It’s an honor to be able to be apart of these amazing days for my clients & I want that to always be my main focus.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being a photographer is the moment I get to deliver to full gallery & seeing the messages that I get in return. There is nothing better than hearing how thankful my clients are for me to have been apart of their day & the photos that were captured.

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The number one thing that really helped me jump start in my career was establishing connections with other photographers/vendors in my area. Building those relationships gave me a sense of belonging & helped me so much to want to make myself better. From second shooting to recommending me whenever they couldn’t take it on really catapulted my name within this market.
