Madison , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What do you think matters most in terms of achieving success?
To be successful means being consistent, and to have faith in yourself and what you can do. You also have to learn from your own mistakes and failures to grow as an individual and business owner. Giving up is one of the most common things that happen when someone is taking on entrepreneurship because the trials and tribulations, the stress and doubt. It takes a lot of effort, self evaluation, dedication and hard work to try and be the best version of yourself so your business will prosper and be successful! You have to want it, crave it, and want more for yourself and your life no matter how hard things get! Nothing worth having comes easy in life and you will never know the outcome of something if you don’t try!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
For those who do not know me, my name is Madison Diehl and owner of Idiehls Day Spa. I graduated esthetician school in 2019 at 7 months pregnant with my first son. I always had the admiration for waxing not knowing once in school I would fall in love with most beauty services! I have experienced working from home once I graduated to build clientele, to doing booth rental in a salon, transforming to opening a beauty bar with a previous business partner, to then taking the leap of faith and opening up my very own day spa. I have learned many valuable life lessons with business from professionalism, marketing, ethic, and quality. The most important things to me is for my place of business to be a clients home way from home. To walk into my doors and feel comfortable and leave even more confident. To practice self care and know that they are not being judged for anything. To uplift each and every person that I service along with the amazing team I have at the spa! The relationships and trust that I build with my clients is what will always set me apart from others. The pride that I take in my business and most importantly the passion I show. To me, it’s not always just about the big things. The little things and details matter just as much. A lot of people just do things for the money. I do it because I genuinely love what I do. There isn’t a day that goes by where it feels like “work” to me. I cherish all my clients, and the bonds we create! It’s a dream come true being able to wake up daily and do something that constantly puts a smile on my face. Something I can always be proud of and continue to prosper in. I’m super proud of the accomplishments that have been made so far and how beautiful my spa has turned out. I know it’s only going to grow into an even more beautiful and prosperous business and I’m so thankful for everything that has happened. The endless love and support we have gained! It has turned out to be a beautiful one stop shop and relaxing day spa, offering waxing services, intimate skin lightening, facials, body contouring, lash extensions, brow tinting/henna, brow laminations, nail services, sauna detoxing, yoni services, pmu, etc. The way we work as a team to provide top of the line customer service, professionalism, cleanliness and the best services for each and every client that visits, is truly humbling to me and I’m forever grateful!
Okay – so how did you figure out the manufacturing part? Did you have prior experience?
Before I opened the spa, at my previous business, I wanted to open up my own lash line and started to do so. Lash extensions is one of the many services I offer to clients and fell in love with it the day I took the training. I got so tired of trying to find the right products that not only worked for me but for my clients and the integrity of their lashes. Since I am in Florida it can get pretty difficult to find glues and products for such high heat and humidity. Not including the salts in the air from the beaches. I slowly started to create my own brand. I went through multiple vendors testing lash glues, primers, tweezers, sealants, etc. I personally wasted so much money trying to find what worked and making sure the quality was amazing. I didn’t want anything to have my name on it that was low quality, poorly made, or wasn’t safe for myself and clients to be near or wear. I slowly started to find products that I just had to have in my lash product line. I started to create the labeling, packaging, instructions for professional use only, learning every detail to each ingredient, being able to sell products legally along with how to do taxes for resale, and customizing what I wanted in each product. I slowly started to add more things to my line and finally after over two years finding the perfect lash hairs for the creation of my luxury cashmere lash trays. I have now had my lash product line for over three years now selling over 30+ top of the line quality products and still growing it. I do my own marketing, editing, and advertising which is honestly a lot of fun for me and helps me gain so much knowledge even though at times it can get overwhelming. I know it’s going to all pay off one day and hope to one day sell nationwide and it’s an honor to be able to give lash artist great products at an affordable price. It’s all made special from a lash artist for other lash artist!
How did you build your audience on social media?
When it comes to building an audience on social media platforms, you can go with multiple options. You can buy your following and likes or grow it organically. I personally wanted to grow my audience organically. I feel like this creates more interaction and bonds with people you actually service, people that are located in your area more and people you personally may know. However paying for followers and likes can appear better just because we seem to think the bigger the audience, the more the business can be trusted. I do small things to help grow my audience since I chose to do it naturally such as giveaways by doing drawings if followers repost certain things from my social media platforms, making reels or tik toks that can easily be seen from people and shared, to paying small sponsors on Instagram or Facebook to where it comes across others timelines or stories. It’s very important to have a nice layout for your social accounts to where it’s appealing to the eye and to also post very regularly so your business is exposed more. People don’t know what they don’t see. I like to make eye popping flyers, and use a color theme to help it resemble my business and ambience. It allows your business to speak without even having to mention the name. People will automatically tie a post to your business just by the appearance of something, color theme or a logo.
