We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Madison Bennett. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Madison below.
Alright, Madison thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Naming anything – including a business – is so hard. Right? What’s the story behind how you came up with the name of your brand?
The name Stumpy Bean Coffee Co. was inspired by my two corgis, Apollo and Gemini, who are my daily source of joy and motivation. As a dog lover, I wanted a name that captured the playful, lighthearted spirit of the brand while also feeling personal. ‘Stumpy’ is a nod to their adorable little legs, and combining it with ‘Bean’ tied everything back to my love for great coffee.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m the founder of Stumpy Bean Coffee Co., a playful, dog-inspired coffee brand rooted in my love for two things: high-quality coffee and my corgis. I also work in sustainability consulting, which has shaped my approach to business, prioritizing eco-conscious practices, community, and creativity.
Based in Canyon Lake, CA, I noticed a lack of specialty coffee options in the area and saw an opportunity to bring something fun, personal, and high-quality to the community. Stumpy Bean Coffee Co. offers small-batch packaged coffee and tea with dog-themed names, and we often pop up at pet-friendly events. We also encourage sustainable habits through compostable packaging and local sourcing.
What sets us apart is our unique blend of quality, character, and care. We’re not just serving coffee, we’re creating a joyful experience for fellow dog lovers and coffee enthusiasts.
This journey even inspired me to co-launch a podcast for dog parents, The Yap Corner, with my best friend (who I met thanks to our dogs). It’s a space for sharing the joys and quirks of life with dogs.
One day, I hope to open a corgi-themed coffee shop which will be a cozy spot where the community can gather, pups are always welcome, and good coffee is a given.

Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new clients has been the incredible community I’ve built through my corgis’ social media presence and the wider corgi and dog-loving community. Having an existing, engaged audience gave me a strong foundation when launching Stumpy Bean Coffee Co., and word of mouth has been key to our growth. I’ve also launched a TikTok account for the brand, which has helped us reach a broader audience and brought in quite a few new customers who discovered us through our playful, dog-centric content. Additionally, handing out samples at in-person events has been a great way to make real-world connections, introduce people to the coffee, and turn curious passersby into loyal customers. Combining online reach with in-person interaction has been a powerful way to grow our community.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?
I personally handle all business communication and customer service, which allows me to connect directly with every customer. Whether it’s through email, social media messages, or in-person events, I make it a priority to be approachable, responsive, and genuinely helpful. I send follow-ups asking for reviews and encourage customers to share feedback on our products, it not only helps us improve, but also shows them their opinions truly matter.
I also love providing personalized recommendations based on how they brew their coffee, from grind sizes to style suggestions. Whether they’re using a French press, drip machine, or espresso setup, I’m happy to guide them toward the best experience possible. That personal connection—combined with a genuine interest in their satisfaction—has helped build trust and loyalty in the Stumpy Bean Coffee Co. community.
