Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Madison Anderer. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Madison, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
I’ve had the opportunity to create my own personal Community Service Initiative called “Forget-Me-Not Community Outreach”. I started this project back when I was 13 after my uncle was admitted into an assisted living. Over the past 5 years, I’ve been able to take “Forget-Me-Not” to nursing homes, special needs facilities, and assisted livings across Palm Beach County.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your background and context?
I’m an 18 year old high school student from West Palm Beach, Florida. I began performing the summer going into my 6th grade year, and have taken my desire to perform all throughout my high school years. I began Forget-Me-Not, my performance based community service, after my uncle began living in an assisted living facility. Being able to share the joy of performance with those who often feel overlooked is one of my greatest joys. I am beyond proud of the work I’ve been able to accomplish and the hearts I’ve been able to touch through my community service.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the joy I’m able to help bring to others. Whether its a conversation after a performance or a song that touches an audience, the light that radiates makes every hour spent working toward each visit to a nursing home or special needs facility worth it.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
A lot of people don’t understand how much work it takes to truly put a whole performance together, even if it’s only an hour of music. It takes weeks of preparation through finding songs and setting up rehearsal times. However, the pay-off in the end is the greatest part of all of the work that is placed into this mission. The smiles that are brought back to the faces of people bring immense amounts of joy to me and the other ambassadors that are a part of Forget-Me-Not.
