We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Madison 7seven a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Madison, thanks for joining us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
One of the risks I took was to go back to my university and to complete my Bachelor of Business Degree while still working as a Cosmetologist. That was one of the greatest decisions I made, in which many of my strategic management classes helped me with creating my lipgloss brand! I remember my professor instructing my team members that we had to create a global online sneaker company. In order for our team members to graduate, we had to come together and create a mock sneakers online company. We had order/adjust inventory, managed and sold sneakers, and also handled profits/losses for the sneaker company. We passed with an A+and I received my Bachelor of Business Administration Degree!
In the year 2020, I was working remotely, and I decided to create my lipgloss and cosmetics brand online, named Madison 7Seven LLC. I remembered all the tools and knowledge I learned that helped me when I started my online business.

I started Madison7Seven LLC. lipgloss makeup brand in the year 2020. I always enjoyed the beauty industry, plus the reason I chose lipgloss is because as a young girl, I used tinted lipgloss to cover up my chapped lips. Also, I liked the way you can place any gloss tint over a lipstick to create a different color palate.
I have had a passion for the beauty industry for over 25 years. I have studied the art of beauty and hair artistry, and I have worked with all races, gender, and ethic backgrounds.
Madison7Seven mission is to fill our true purpose in life with beauty, love, grace, and compassion for all.
Madison7Seven makeup brand is an inclusive product for all to use and to enjoy!
Can you open up about how you funded your business?
The initial capital for my lipgloss online company came from 2020 stimulus money. I use the stimulus money and purchased products, marketing and and packaging services.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I built my initial social media audience starting with my co-workers at my 9-5 job. I gave lipgloss samples to a select group of women who liked wearing makeup. In which they ended up purchasing my lipgloss brand, and I asked them to follow me on Instagram for future products for them to purchase Madison7Seven lipgloss and my other products. My co-workers and family members become my initial customers that purchased many of my biggest purchases online.
