We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Madeline Fiore a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Madeline , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I’ve ever worked on is my poetry book, My Pocketbook of I Love You’s, which I self-published in 2019. It was an incredibly personal endeavor, allowing me to express myself and reflect on the struggles I’ve faced with women loving women love.
After publishing the book, I hosted a launch as part of the City of Vaughan Culture Days event at the historic Thoreau MacDonald House. For the event, I created an immersive experience by transforming each room of the house into a chapter of the book. Guests were invited to step into the chapters and read a page in each room, bringing the book to life in an interactive way.
The creative journey didn’t stop there. I got the book into local Toronto bookstores such as Glad Day, Another Story Bookshop, and Book City. Inspired by the response, I expanded the project by creating a merchandise line that included T-shirts, stickers, crewnecks and more.
Ultimately, the book became the foundation for my first short film. This adaptation marked my debut as a filmmaker, and the film went on to win awards like Best LGBTQ Film, Best Cinematography, and a People’s Choice Award at local film festivals. This journey has been transformative, showing me the power of storytelling across different mediums and how deeply art can resonate with others.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am an author, photographer, director, and artist based in Toronto, Ontario. My creative journey began in high school when I first discovered my passion for poetry. Since then, I have self-published two poetry books and expanded my craft to include various forms of creative writing. Beyond writing, I have found a deep connection to photography as a storytelling medium. My artistic work often brings together multiple disciplines, including photo series, short films, collage art, and even theatrical plays, to create immersive narratives.
Studying Journalism at university was a pivotal moment in my career. It reinforced my love for storytelling and helped me sharpen the tools I now use across all my creative projects. Whether it’s through the written word, visual arts, or filmmaking, storytelling remains at the core of everything I create.
As a proud member of the 2SLGBTQI+ community, I am deeply committed to telling the stories I longed to see while growing up. I believe that authentic representation in media is not only important but essential. My goal is to share narratives that resonate with and inspire others in the 2SLGBTQI+ community, providing them with stories they can see themselves in, while also feeling empowered and uplifted.
What sets me apart is the fusion of my various creative disciplines into cohesive, multimedia storytelling experiences. My projects strive to evoke emotion, foster connection, and reflect the diverse and nuanced realities of the human experience.
I want potential clients, followers, and fans to know that my work is driven by passion and purpose. Whether it’s through my writing, photography, or films, I am dedicated to creating meaningful, authentic stories that celebrate love, identity, and connection. My hope is that my art not only resonates with audiences but also inspires them to see the beauty in their own stories.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist and creative is the opportunity to inspire and connect with others. When someone shares their personal story or tells me how they resonated with something I’ve created, it reaffirms that my work is reaching the right people. Knowing that my art makes others feel seen, understood, and represented is incredibly fulfilling—it’s a reminder of the power storytelling holds in bringing people together and validating their experiences.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
What drives my creative journey is the depth of passion and emotion I feel. I’ve always experienced emotions intensely, and I channel that into my creative endeavors as a form of release and expression. That emotional connection fuels my passion, giving me the energy and drive to bring my ideas to life. It’s this blend of emotion and creativity that shapes my work and keeps me inspired to continue exploring and creating.
