Madame, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Parents play a huge role in our development as youngsters and sometimes that impact follows us into adulthood and into our lives and careers. Looking back, what’s something you think you parents did right?

Both of my parents are outgoing, socially aware, straight up and exceptional hard workers with great personalities. I learned from my mother to be a BOSS, unapologetically. I grew up seeing my mom dominate in her career, love her family and lead the life that she wanted. I became comfortable being the brightest light that shined in the room, speaking like I have sense and presenting myself in a way that clearly set me apart from others. My father taught me to be a sharp thinker and always pay attention to how people move, not what they say. They both showed me to never accept a first offer, that family is everything and the power of positive thinking. How can you expect good things to happen in your life when all you do is project negativity? This knowledge has been a life transformation tool. It has given me the momentum to start and succeed in business, speak my mind to get what I want/need, be affirmative in my desires and truly see the world as a opportune place for me and my soul tribe!

I am a visionary who is inspired by the Divine. I currently run and manage my online spiritual boutique: The Jambalaya Moon. I started my business in 2012 so others could enjoy the benefits of holistic living, especially natural skincare. We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?

I deleted my Twitter account about a year ago because I outgrew the platform and what it currently represents. However, I had significant growth during the inception of my business because I was simply authentic. I did not try to please anyone and I wrote how I felt, what I knew and how I could help others. If you want to find your audience, find a problem that you can solve and build buzz around it. Become comfortable with others criticizing you, especially if you’re introducing something new and exciting. “People” will be skeptical because 1) they lack the brazen nature to do what you’re doing 2) they tend to dismiss what they do not understand.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?

Clients cannot become friends – boundaries have to be set! I used to think that everyone around me was genuine and actually wanted the best for me! I made a couple of acquaintances with people that came to me for spiritual work or for mystical items, Most of these women wanted to get close to me to 1) build their own brands 2) tap into the audience I had genuinely built 3) see what benefits they could gain because I live a luxurious lifestyle. I learned after a few lessons that I have set myself apart for a reason. I don’t feel that I’m better than anyone, I just know that inauthenticity irritates my spirit and I make it one of my life missions to avoid it. I unlearned that everyone smiling in my face or “investing” in my business actually had pure intentions. This is why I am so exclusive with my clients now. I am not for everybody and everybody is not for me. Period.
