We were lucky to catch up with Madam Krissy recently and have shared our conversation below.

Alright, Madam thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Quality control is a challenge almost every entrepreneur has had to focus on when growing – any advice, stories or insight around how to best ensure quality is maintained as your business scales?

Being in business for 5+ years I’m a firm believer in growth and expansion, which is the reason I believe that maintaining quality as your business or company grows is valuable. Having structure and balance will assist in maintaining quality control. Creating a well-structured and balanced lifestyle keeps you and your business afloat as well. In business you don’t want to remain in the same space in which you have started. Business is about elevation. In 2019 I launched my hair care product line “Knapp Khemistry.” When I first started “Knapp Khemistry”, presentation is everything so every chance I received I would study and invest in better products, better labeling and packaging, because from the consumer side of business, especially when searching for the right hair care product, I myself am first “wooed” as you can say by the marketing of the product, and labeling. As your business grows so should the product quality. Invest in your elevation. If you start with something good, your next goal should be to make it great, but without controlling the quality of what you are producing or supplying you may take a little longer to reach your desired goal. I tend to keep in mind great things take time,and by controlling the quality of  production I just may be able to double up that time.

We’d really appreciate if you could talk to us about how you figured out the manufacturing process.

Yes, manufacturing decisions are by far really not the easiest task of business, especially when you are accustomed to controlling your production. I do the manufacturing of Knapp Khemistry. In 2019 I created Knapp Khemistry Loc moisturizer. Once I created the product, I did some research on how to get your product manufactured, thinking it would be less of a hassle if I could have a company do the majority of the work for me, sounds pretty ideal in the busy world of a cosmetologist. As an entrepreneur, quality control is a must right along with budgeting, so as I continued my search for a manufacturing company the search quickly came to a halt. Why…? because I had come to the realization while searching, why pay a large company to manufacture a product, they know nothing about my  brand or product, when I can continue to control the quality of my brand and product as I watch it grow, versus a manufacturing company that can careless about growth within my brand. I just couldn’t go along with that idea. So, I just continued to keep my motion going, finding separate vendors for things I may use, in which a huge part of quality control is to budget, but also “ball out” on your business. Quality is something I take pride in when it comes to providing for my business and clients, so of course it was only right for me to research and acquire the best tools for my product Knapp Khemistry and continue to manufacture the product myself.

Since I am the sole manufacturer of Knapp Khemistry, I love selling my product on Amazon, I am able to keep track of how much product is to be kept in stock monthly, which keeps me from overstocking. However, I feel that more revenue comes from our personal website, I would say because it gives consumers more of a personal experience when shopping and learning the product.
