We were lucky to catch up with Madalyn Freeman recently and have shared our conversation below.
Madalyn, appreciate you joining us today. Setting up an independent practice is a daunting endeavor. Can you talk to us about what it was like for you – what were some of the main steps, challenges, etc.
My business, Worthy Heart Human Design, officially came to life in 2023, but my initiation into the spiritual realm started in 2022. At that time I learned about Human Design from one of my best friends, and I couldn’t help but follow my fascination with understanding myself & my energetic body.
I discovered the rituals that were supportive for me to tune into myself and what fascinated me. In the early days, this included an international Human Design Deconditioning Retreat, hours of studying my Human Design Reader Training course, breath work, massage, and meditation to connect me to my higher self and my life’s purpose. I also had to listen to several people in my circle who believed that I was worthy of building something on my own. My life unfolded beautifully from there!
In Human Design, I have what’s called an Undefined Heart Center, which means I am naturally prone to learning many of my life’s lessons through my worth. I am still learning lessons through this center today, but ultimately ended up starting my business to remind individuals that they are worth building the life they want to build and discovering what is possible for themselves. I think it is common for people to get accustomed to living their lives in monotony & routine, and I am here to remind them how they can maximize their time here on earth, live in their highest expression, and build the life of their dreams.
My advice for anyone who is looking to start a business is to follow your fascinations and listen to your own internal “whispers.” It’s important not to compare yourself to what others are doing in their field, because you may end up doing things differently and attracting your own audience as a result.
Madalyn, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
It’s funny now, because the best way I can describe myself these days is through the lens of Human Design, but (as always) I will put it in terms for someone that doesn’t have a knowledge of what Human Design is!
I am what’s called a 2/4 Splenic Projector. Energetically speaking, I see myself as an introverted hermit (that’s the 2!) who masters my craft of human design coaching inside the comfort of my home. Others see me as an extroverted, intimate friend (that’s the 4!) who creates connections between friend groups and sees people deeply. I have a very strong intuition (coming from the spleen, aka “splenic”) that I let guide my life and the things that are energetically aligned for me. I am a Projector who is here to guide others and make life more efficient, and to follow my fascinations daily!
In 2020, I turned inwards and began to seek understanding of my physical body. I spent a couple of years learning its innate wisdom and its connection to my mind. In 2022, one of my best friends told me about Human Design, and I can say it is one thing I have thought about every single day since!

I firmly believe that when hiring professionals we don’t get enough time together to get to the root of how a partnership could satisfy your needs as a client. There are a lot of Human Design readers out there who will charge you for one session and tell you seemingly everything you could ever know about yourself with little discussion or room for growth, connection, or change.
Quality time is one of my personal love languages, and it’s important that I give that to my clients. I like to spend 90 minutes together (free of charge) to dive deep into your story and help you discover if the experience of Human Design coaching is meant for you. Sessions are 2-3 weeks apart and give time for life to unfold in front of you if you follow your Strategy & Authority (concepts we discuss together). The time we spend together could involve any of the following: creating supportive rituals, custom Human Design lessons, a custom Human Design journal, meditation, and integration & coaching.
I am proud that I have created a space where not every client’s experience looks the same. All of us have different wants and needs based on our design, and I have created a space where that is recognized and valued.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn that my corporate career doesn’t define my success as an individual! Before I started Worthy Heart, I became pretty obsessed with trying to climb the corporate ladder. I felt like I was forcing myself down a path I didn’t belong, and ultimately was turned down for the promotion I so desperately thought I wanted. My manager at the time encouraged me to pursue different activities that were fulfilling to me, which led me to human design. Look at me now!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Understanding the people you are in contact every day can be your clients! As a Projector (my human design type) it’s important for me to build my light house to help guide and show others the way. Following my human design has given me the language I need to share my insights with those around me. As long as I am sharing how human design has helped change my life with others, individuals who are interested in the work that I do will come my way.
