This question holds deep significance for me, particularly in light of my recent loss. I was fortunate to have had an extraordinary childhood shaped by the wisdom and resilience of my parents. They instilled in me virtue and the value of savoring each moment as an adventure, consistently offering encouragement and positive affirmations.
At a young age, my mother’s near-death experience in a car accident left an indelible mark on her perspective. Despite losing her vision, she continued to impart invaluable lessons in martial arts, etiquette, and literature, all without a hint of complaint. Her transformative encounter profoundly influenced her life, becoming a source of inspiration for resilience and gratitude to many others.
On the other hand, my father equipped me with practical survival skills and later shared the art of salesmanship. Their diverse teachings formed a comprehensive foundation for navigating life’s challenges.
A pivotal moment in my adolescence was when my parents sent me on a missionary trip to the Amazon Jungle, where I lived with the Waodani tribe. Amidst the backdrop of a tribe known for historical conflicts, I gleaned essential lessons in teamwork and collaboration from a tribal perspective. This experience laid a robust groundwork for my subsequent career development in the modern world.

Alright – let’s talk about marketing or sales – do you have any fun stories about a risk you’ve taken or something else exciting on the sales and marketing side?
After establishing our Orlando office and building a robust portfolio of commercial properties, my wife Vanessa and I decided to make a bold move to St Petersburg. Our love for sailing drew us to the ocean, and the prospect of tapping into a new market presented excitement and challenges.
One of our first significant listings in the area was a Big Lots shopping center, a fantastic opportunity that came with its own set of hurdles. With no local advisors, analysts, or administrative support, I took on the challenge of creating the entire offering memorandum independently, with design assistance from Vanessa.
Undeterred by the lack of a support team, I initiated marketing efforts to attract major players nationwide. Implementing a call for offers, I successfully garnered interest from potential buyers, leading to a competitive bidding process. Notably, a private company from Ohio emerged as the most aggressive negotiators, backed by a formidable team of analysts and developers.
For a month, I dedicated most of my time to intricate negotiations, running calculations, and exchanging proforma models. What made this achievement even more remarkable is that I was managing the entire process on my own, without the support typically associated with such high-stakes deals.
The Ohio-based company commended our efforts throughout the negotiation, unaware that I was a one-person show orchestrating the entire deal. To maintain a professional facade, I even utilized two additional email addresses, creating an illusion of an in-house analyst and admin staff.
In the end, our perseverance paid off, and we secured the deal, surpassing the valuation provided to our clients by other brokers. The success of this venture played a crucial role in capitalizing our Tampa office, allowing us to expand our team. Today, we have a razor-sharp team in both Tampa and Orlando, ready to tackle complex deals with the same determination and expertise.
