Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Mackenzie Muth. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Mackenzie, thanks for joining us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
At HOL Health Club™, we’re rethinking what it means to be healthy — starting with our protein bars.
We are Mackenzie and Nolan, lifelong entrepreneurs at heart. No really, we both launched our own ventures before age six, from concession stands (Mackenzie) to CD burning services (Nolan), to an odd jobs business his first summer in college (who do you think?).
When we met as business students at Indiana University, it was love at first lecture. Like good little business students, we moved to NYC where we worked long hours in investment banking.
Shortly after graduation, Nolan’s father passed away suddenly. This tragedy spurred an urgent and important shift in the food we put in our bodies. Our renewed passion for health led us to prioritize clean eating and fitness. Throughout the years, despite our incredibly grueling schedule, health remained our top priority.
A transformative trip through Asia in 2024 opened our eyes even further: fresh, simple, whole foods were the norm there; unlike the ultra-processed, hard-to-pronounce ingredient lists we found back home.
In late 2024, Mackenzie worked on a landmark deal in the better-for-you food space. While it deepened her interest in clean food, it was the public’s reaction that stood out: many were upset that a beloved healthy brand was bought by a company known for junk food. It revealed a deeper truth, consumers do not trust Big Food. There was a clear gap: a truly clean brand at scale, not owned by a processed food giant. Mackenzie saw the opportunity to fill it.
But where to start? When on the go and looking for a snack, protein bars were always the go-to. Convenient, affordable, nutritious (right?). But there was an issue we started to notice. All bars out there were either natural and clean but did not have enough protein, or had enough protein but were full of processed junk. We searched and searched to find a clean, natural protein bar that also gave us enough protein and other nutrients…but could not find one. So we decided to create it ourselves.
We started testing recipes in our kitchen and quickly realized we had something (though they have come a long way (TLDR: tastier) from our first recipe pictured here). In 2025, we launched HOL Health Club: the all natural, whole food protein bar with 20g of protein. Delicious, functional, and an ingredient list you actually recognize. We are pioneering the use of a new ingredient to the protein bar market that is highly nutritious…chicken bone broth.
We believe this is just the beginning as HOL is much more than a product. It’s a movement to bring honesty, quality, and wellness back to food, and remind everyone that being healthy does not have to be hard…it can be easy and enjoyable. We’re so excited to grow this with all of you.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
At HOL Health Club™, we’re rethinking what it means to be healthy — starting with our protein bars.
Made with real, whole ingredients and zero compromise, they’re built to fuel your day without slowing you down. We were constantly on the go, trying to eat well—but everything “healthy” started to look more like it came from a lab than a kitchen. High quality was getting confused with highly processed, and ingredient labels read like science experiments.
We got fed up, so we left our jobs on Wall Street and started HOL Health Club™—a brand built on whole, recognizable ingredients and a belief that living well should be enjoyable.

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I have been sharing my life on social media for the last year or so – think day in the life (as an investment banker, quitting my job, etc.), work outfits, weekend recaps, grocery hauls, etc. I started posting on social media because I could not find a creator like myself. I struggled to find someone that was working a job as intense as mine and still balancing friends, family, and life in general. I committed to posting everyday for 30 days in December and my content took off. I played around with different style videos and content pillars, but noticed that my day in my life as an investment banker is what consistently performed the best – a female in a male dominated industry that very little people understood. I continued to document my job and the journey through quitting my job to entrepreneurship. Now I plan to document what it looks like to build a company from the ground up.
Reflecting on the last year, few pieces of advice:
– Document, don’t create –> people are interested in the journey, not the perfectly polished videos
– Consistency –> if you are constantly on people’s feeds they have no choice but to watch you
– Value Add –> ensure that your content is educational, inspiring, relatable, or intriguing; this will guarantee traction every time with your viewers

Can you share one of your favorite marketing or sales stories?
25 days into entrepreneurship / post-quitting my job, my Co-Founder and I decided to host a pop-up in NYC to hand out samples of our product. We had been sharing this event on social media a few days prior, but were nervous about turn out given we are a brand new brand and the only followers we had gained was from our grand total of two social media posts. To drive more foot traffic we drew up some posterboard signs that read “We just quit our finance jobs to make this protein bar. Please come try it!”.
Vulnerability. Relatability. Intrigue. It was a huge success. We handed out over 1,200 samples in a five hour time span.
And the best part? We had so much fun doing it. Fun sharing our story. Fun telling people about our new product. Fun sharing the problems that led us to create our product and hearing that people had the same ones.
