Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to MacKenzie Joyner. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi MacKenzie, thanks for joining us today. How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I always loved makeup but never knew I ever would take it serious. My idea really just fell into place as I did more and more clients. I began to get better throughout my makeup journey and that led me to get serious about my business. I knew I needed a business name and logo so I sat for hours thinking of names that would have a strong meaning to me. The one that clicked with me the most was “The Glam Trap Beauty Lounge.” I wanted to honor my brother the one who showed me the way. He was a man of many talents and so am I. I wanted to offer a one stop glam shop who caters to every skin tone. My passion for makeup pushed me to go back to school to earn my esthetician license. The happiness and joy that I experienced was breathtaking especially because I went through so much just to get to where I am today. I was the one who always questioned my purpose in this life and to actually find it pushes me to go so much harder. When you find your purpose you’ll know it’s for you. I prayed god would reveal what’s for me and he did just that.

MacKenzie, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I have a private luxurious one stop glam shop that offers makeup, mannequin makeup, facials, waxing, press on nails. My passion runs deep I absolutely love what I do. I truly believe I can do anything I put my mind to. In order for me to succeed I had to fail a few times to get it right. I had to discipline myself to learn to be patient because it definitely doesn’t just happen over night. The one thing I’m most proud of is definitely my talent. My talent has blessed me to meet amazing people, inspire others, find my purpose, and make people feel beautiful.

What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing clientele is posting content on social media. I can say most of all my clients have came from socials but once they have been serviced by me they then refer others. The one thing about growing is you have to be your biggest supporter and that means you have to promote daily. The more people see your work the more they will want what you offer.

What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source for me has been social media and word of mouth. In the beginning I had to work so hard to promote my brand but now my clients do all the talking for me.
