We were lucky to catch up with Mackenson Henry recently and have shared our conversation below.
MACKENSON, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s jump back to the first dollar you earned as a creative? What can you share with us about how it happened?
The first dollar I earned from acting was a moment I’ll never forget—it felt like the beginning of something extraordinary. It came when I landed a role in a holiday commercial with Disney. The entire experience was magical, from stepping onto the set to seeing the final product air in the heart of Times Square in New York and online. When I received my first paycheck, it wasn’t just about the money—it was validation. Someone had recognized and valued the years of training, effort, and passion I had poured into my craft. That feeling was priceless.
What made it even more special were the messages and calls from friends and family, telling me excitedly that they’d seen me in a Disney commercial. Knowing that my work had reached so many people—and brought joy during the holiday season—gave me a sense of pride and fulfillment that’s hard to put into words.
As for modeling, my first paid opportunity came when I worked with Revolt through Empower Global. The production was nothing short of spectacular. From the creative energy on set to the incredible team I worked with, it didn’t even feel like work. Everything was so well-organized and enjoyable. Even better, the people I connected with during that project have become lasting relationships in my life. That experience taught me the value of collaboration and the joy of being part of a production that feels more like a celebration of creativity than a job.
Writing-wise, I’m continually seeking opportunities to refine my craft and express my creative talent. I view each experience as a stepping stone toward growth, and I’m excited about the potential to share my voice in ways that resonate with others. The journey is ongoing, and I’m eager to embrace every chance to learn, improve, and make my mark.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I got into the industry by first exploring improv in Orlando at a place called SAK Comedy Lab. It was there that I learned the art of thinking on my feet and creating authentic, in-the-moment connections in both short and long-form improv scenes. That foundation taught me how to embrace spontaneity and connect with audiences in a genuine way, skills that have carried over into everything I do.
In 2021, I made the decision to move to Atlanta, where I pursued formal training at The ProActor Studio under the guidance of two incredible teachers, Scott Oakley and Jeff Coles. Their expertise helped me refine my craft, giving me the tools to create layered, compelling performances and truly understand the depth of storytelling in acting.
As a creative, I primarily focus on acting and modeling, delivering authentic performances and representing brands in ways that connect with audiences on a deeper level. What sets me apart is my ability to bring a unique energy and realness to every project—whether it’s a commercial, a photoshoot, or an on-screen role. My years of improv training and formal acting education have shaped me into someone who values collaboration and strives to create moments that resonate.
One of the things I’m most proud of is the opportunity to work with notable brands like Disney and Revolt. Seeing my work reach others—whether it’s a commercial airing in Times Square or feedback from clients—is incredibly fulfilling. Beyond the projects, I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built within the industry. Many of the people I’ve worked with have become lasting connections, and I believe that speaks to the value I place on authenticity and teamwork.
For anyone engaging with my work, I want them to know that I approach every project with passion, professionalism, and a commitment to excellence. My goal is not just to perform but to tell stories, represent ideas, and inspire others in meaningful ways. Whether it’s through acting, modeling, or creative collaborations, I aim to leave a lasting impact.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.
The journey of a creative is deeply personal, often misunderstood, and far from linear. It’s filled with moments of uncertainty, reflection, and trial-and-error that don’t always result in immediate or tangible outcomes. Creativity requires immense emotional investment, as it often involves sharing vulnerable parts of oneself with the world, risking failure or criticism. Inspiration doesn’t follow a 9-to-5 schedule, and the balance between pursuing passion projects and meeting practical obligations can be overwhelming. Many mistake creativity for innate talent, overlooking the discipline and resilience required to grow and evolve. To support creatives, it’s essential to recognize the courage, effort, and lifelong commitment that go into their work. Understanding this journey not only fosters empathy but also celebrates the unique ways creativity enriches and challenges the world.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
The mission driving my creative journey is to inspire both myself and others to follow their purpose—intentionally, wholeheartedly, and with clarity. I want to help people see that life is not just a random roll of the dice. Instead, we have the power to manifest our truest desires by focusing on the unique purpose we each bring to this world.
Through my work, I strive to spark belief in the idea that we are all here for a reason, and it’s up to us to discover and pursue that purpose with determination and passion. By staying intentional and purposeful in everything I create, I hope to encourage others to take that same leap of faith toward their dreams.
