We were lucky to catch up with Macauley Johnson recently and have shared our conversation below.
Macauley, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
My Name is Wavy Mac. I would say I’m happy with the amount of support given, I have t-shirts now. I’ve sold 58 since February. I get recognized in public for what I do. I know so many wonderful people.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I have always had an interest in music. drum lessons when I was younger, and self-taught guitar. everything I’ve done is self-made. I have taught myself my whole skillset. I speak a lot on mental health & try to have fun with the music. I’ve always had struggles with my mental health. i want people to know I’ve always tried to give my best foot forward and care for others. I want to collaborate with other artists in a way that both parties are happy. I’m very proud of the amount of material I have made, I do my best for my fans with the finances I have from my 9-5. . my fans are extended family to me.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
to self-express. god has pulled me through a lot with my music. i want to build a family with this.
Have you ever had to pivot?
I barely had any money and I decided to have t-shirts made. I ended up selling a lot of them pretty fast. now I want to be at the spot where I can survive & thrive with the music.
