We recently connected with Mac Huffington and have shared our conversation below.
Mac, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you feel you or your work has ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized? If so, tell us the story and how/why it happened and if there are any interesting learnings or insights you took from the experience?
Being LGBT doesn’t mean I am not a good Business Owner. People see I am Black and if they found out I am LGBT they think I cannot do good business.
Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
Our Nashville Pride Festival gives me LIFE, JOY and HAPPINSS. To see the faces at the parade Saturday in the schoring heat. Watching the attendees line up at the park gates and continue and continue to come into the festival after walking in and or viewing the parade also in the heat was a rewarding feeling for all our hard work.
Watching the entertainers performing as the sun beaming down in many areas with no shade while the crowds shouted and clapped was awesome. Talking to vendors, visiting VIP, watching the Main stage acts, all bringing the community together in these trying times is still what it’s all about. Working with the community & continuing to ensure diversity is a motivator for my creative journey. I get the same joy in my pageantry system.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The joy and happiness I see in the faces of the Community and everyone I work with.
