We were lucky to catch up with Maaac recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Maaac, thanks for joining us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I wanted to be an artist from the first time I picked up a guitar. I always had a deep love for music growing up as it was a prominent force for me as a young kid. I knew there was something special about it and something inside of me to create my own sound and be on the same level as the people I grew up listening to.

Maaac, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I was born and raised in California where music is a common form of expression. When I relocated to Las Vegas as a young kid, I realized how big of thing it actually was. I picked up a guitar at age 10 and never put it down. I was in a band in high school and it wasn’t until then that I really saw the vision. When I graduated high school, I bought my first laptop and started creating music on garageband and later progressed to logic pro. I really mastered beat making and figured that I could use my own beats to make my own music. My childhood friend Jupiter Runway & I formed a collective called ODC. One Day Closer, not just a record label but a mantra; a way of life. As long as we kept working towards our goal to becoming the biggest artists in the world we would always be one day closer to obtaining that.

Do you think there is something that non-creatives might struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can shed some light?
Being a creative means to step outside the normal idea of just getting by. You always have to be the odd one out, regardless of what others think. Art is subjective, so the music will be too. Many don’t view being a musician or an artist as a way to get what you want but not everyone shares the same dreams. Motion creates emotion, so whether people think it’s this or that, creativity will always evoke some form of thought. Not everyone has to agree, they just have to feel.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist is the finished result. Like I said, art is subjective so not everyone will like it, but as an artist having a finished work of art is just a breath of fresh air. We’re constantly in a battle with ourselves to perfect our craft so when it’s finally said and done, it’s nirvana. Euphoria even.
