Alright, Lyssa thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. So, let’s start with a hypothetical – what would you change about the educational system?

The education system we have set in place to produce happy and successful young adults has failed us. Our teachers are overwhelmed and underpaid, test scores are more important than mental health and we have removed options that allowed our children to discover their talents and interests during their adolescence. We need to focus on raising adults that will flourish as an individual in the real world while supporting family/teacher involvement and rebuilding the education system to include personal finances, homesteading and family planning.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

My journey began seventeen years ago, as a young woman who loved helping others feel good about themselves. I continued my hobby of being a makeup artist for almost ten years before deciding to create a beauty team that could travel on site for our clients. I specialize in bridal beauty while also offering hair and makeup services for any occasion, makeup lessons and beauty education for other professionals.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?

Networking has been the biggest help in building my brand. In the beginning I would donate my time, services and products while meeting other professionals and building relationships in the community, which led to booking new clients and making good connections.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?

Staying active on my social media platforms and making connections with those who follow what I do. Since most of my clients come from word of mouth referrals, it’s important to me that I showcase honest work. From my young brides to their grandmothers, I make sure any woman who looks at my work understands I am capable of giving them a beautiful look.
