Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi, my name is LyriQal Marie. I am a singer, songwriter and vocal producer. I’ began singing at the age of seven in San Diego California. At the age of 10 I wrote my very first record. I knew exactly what I wanted to do it that point. I wanted to be a professional singer. So, at the age of 14, I joined a music group called Just In Time out of Fontana, CA. That led to years of touring, recording, and writing songs for various local music groups. For the last 28 years, I have dedicated blood sweat and tears into the Indie music scene. Making a name for myself, I started to get recognized by major artist when I was a senior in high school. I was invited to open up for artist like Missy Elliott, Boyz II Men, Nina Sky, Jazmine Sullivan, and many more. After college, I begin to focus on my writing abilities that led to music placements with Mary J. Blige and Teyana Taylor. I would love to say that all of this has been easy. However, it’s been quite the opposite. Unexpectedly in the middle of my career while tour, I found my mom deceased in her apartment after a performance in her town. I lost everything after I lost my mom. My mind, my love for music, and the drive that my mom always instilled to me was gone. If it weren’t for my village of family and friends, fans and supporters, I’m not sure if I would’ve ever entered the scene again. Returning to music in 2022. I have finally found a way to release the pain and get back to what my mom loved to see me do. She invested not only money but positive affirmations into everything that I did. No one was a bigger fan of mine. Nowadays, while the pain is still so fresh, I’ve learned to use it as my power. Every single show is dedicated to the memory of my beautiful, loving mama. Sometimes I’m not quite sure if I can keep going, She always shows up in my dream to tell me she couldn’t be more proud of me. My end goal is not to make any of this look pretty, but to present the real so that all artist understand that when it gets bad, when you hit Rockbottom, you can always turn that pain into power. Never give up because for the ones you inspire, they must see through your life, that’ surviving the worst blows, can create a fire in you that will never die. RIP Mommy

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
I think the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is having what a lot of the world doesn’t have, an outlet. a safe place to release any of my feelings without judgment. See, no one judges, a song, no matter what the song says. You could beg for love, you can express extreme brokenness, Or being depressed, and no one will question it. Matter-of-fact, you’ll learn by releasing such music, you’re not alone, not even close. Another rewarding aspect is connecting with women, strangers who you’ve never ever seen before. When you release a song about having a broken heart and a woman from across the country approaches you after performing and tells you that that song helped her through some of the toughest times in her divorce, or help her get through a break up, that feeling right, there is unexplainable, but one of the greatest rewards of all.

Are there any books, videos, essays or other resources that have significantly impacted your management and entrepreneurial thinking and philosophy?
The purpose driven life is the book that I would say has mostly impacted my entrepreneurial thinking. It’s a faith-based book That taught me that what is supposed to happen will happen. Nothing is by coincidence, so when I release, that’s it. I’ve learned to not overthink. I’ve learned to put all of my heart on a record, and let it go. The time that I used to focus and stress over the success of a record is now the time and energy that I used to create another one. When I have a record, that is massively successful, it’s usually because I’ve applied that theory. Every single song isnt going to be a hit and that’s OK. But for what it’s worth, Your fan base will pick up what they need when they need it. I have a record that was released in 2011 that did not get radio play until 2021. Without re-recording or remastering, the world has picked up that record because everything happens and perfect timing. The purpose driven life taught me that. It also taught me that, No matter how many other singers and songwriters they are, My purpose is mine, and no one can take that from me. Life is much more peaceful when you release your art and keep flowing.
