Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lynnecia Eley. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lynnecia, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
To be successful in anything, rather it is as a career professional, leader, or entrepreneur, we must first start with reprogramming our default to doubt ourselves. We all have that nagging inner critic that constantly whispers doubt inside our heads, but the trick is to learn when to pay attention to that voice and when to ignore it. I am a believer in following my intuition and I’ve learned the difference between intuition and self-doubt by taking risks.
Larry Osborne offers us this observation on successful and effective leaders: “The most striking thing about highly effective leaders is how little they have in common. What one swears by, another may warn against, but one trait stands out: the willingness to risk.”
Having the willingness to take a risk needs confidence, courage and most importantly resilience. Courage opens doors, confidence gives you the attitude to walk through doors and into spaces that may seem out of reach, and resilience… resilience is the glue that keeps you standing tall, planted on solid ground, especially in the face of adversity.
To be successful you need to be willing to take a risk with confidence, courage, and resilience.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers?
My start as an entrepreneur and leadership coach started more than 20 years ago. As high school friends, my now business partner, Trenice Brinkley and I shared common interests in applied business technologies and building pathways for our own financial freedoms. Over the years we both have developed businesses in the coaching, publishing, and education/training space for other aspiring entrepreneurs.
Today, I am an award-winning University Assistant Dean and Adjunct Professor that is committed to excellence, dedication, and caring for others. Known as the Confidence Doula, I am an author and confidence coach providing guidance and support to help women and young adults feel self-assured in their abilities to Birth with Purpose.
Through content, training, and workshops, I guide others to truly identify with their purpose. As an adjunct professor, I foster rigorous and inclusive conversations in the classroom that explore personal values and relationships to test the character and responses of people when faced with ethical dilemmas.
I founded She Can Inspire in 2019 and I am also the co-founder of Two Queens Media, Soigne’ + Swank Magazine® and HER Professional Society – all brands that promote and support community growth in business, education, and the media/publishing space.
I am mostly proud of the work we are doing via our Black Excellence publication, Soigne’ + Swank Magazine where we focus on Black, Indigenous, and People of Color, highlighting our culture and positivity in our communities while providing a space for freelance writers and other businesses and brands to promote their products and services.
How’d you meet your business partner?
Trenice Brinkley and I were high school friends who were like-minded and as some would say “beyond our years” in strategizing and implementing the business ideas we came up with. We both ran small businesses while in high school, and in 2020 at the start of the pandemic we decided to come together in a partnership to service more people in the space of entrepreneurship, becoming authors, or needing guidance and support to reach the level in their journey to success.
2020 started it all and the rest is Black History in the Making!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
This question leads me to my own purpose, my assignment from God, if you will. The year 2021 was a life altering year for me. In the middle of seeing the fruits of our businesses grow, I almost lost my life from complications after a routine surgical procedure. In an upcoming anthology, I share a chapter written about my personal story of FAITH, COURAGE and DETERMINATION. The book titled “Stuck is NOT Your Story: I Overcame and Am Victorious” is a compilation of testimonials from all walks of life, from the soldier deploying to Iraq to surviving abuse. Themed with overcoming the worst and most difficult scenarios imaginable, this book is filled with hope and inspiration.
Life testimonies are often built from unplanned or uncontrolled experiences. We have to break through roadblocks and fear to provide courage to someone who thought they’d never make it through their stuck point. Never hold back your story! I didn’t and now I lead with resilience in every thing that I do.
