Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lynn Andrews. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Alright, Lynn thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you share a story about the kindest thing someone has done for you and why it mattered so much or was so meaningful to you?
When I first started out—way back in the Bush administration—I had a mentality that it was me against every other woman in the room. In school, the environment had been highly competitive, so when I went to an audition for a musical sketch comedy show. The casting call was looking for three men and one woman. I was ready to smoke every other contender.
During the audition, the musical director gathered all the women around to learn a song. We were split into different vocal parts. I was off in a corner, trying to figure out the tricky soprano line as quickly as possible, when a young woman approached me.
“Hey, I was here earlier,” she said. “I know the soprano part if you want me to teach it to you real quick.”
I was stunned and then grateful. This went against everything I had understood about the industry. She was my direct competition, yet here she was, offering to help.
She sang the part for me, and I ended up killing the audition. As it turned out, we both booked the job—they changed one of the men’s roles into a woman’s role for me.
I say this was the kindest thing anyone has ever done for me—not because her help got me the job, but because that simple gesture completely changed my brain chemistry. I realized I didn’t have to be cutthroat. I could walk into rooms with kindness, lead with love, and it wouldn’t be a hindrance—it could actually shape my career in meaningful ways.
And yes, we’re still friends.
This isn’t a competition—it’s a community.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I started my creative journey back in high school—huge shoutout to Mrs. Duggan! I was drawn to the stage, and that love for performance led me to New York City to pursue musical comedy. I spent years immersed in the theater world, performing in various productions and honing my craft and being a menace. One of the most exciting chapters of that time was touring the country as the infamous Miss Hannigan in the National Tour of Annie.
When I wasn’t on stage, I was deeply involved in music, working on several projects in New York. I loved collaborating with fellow artists and exploring different creative avenues beyond theater. But as much as I adored the stage, I felt an undeniable pull toward film and television. In 2017, I decided to make the leap—not just into a new medium but also into a new city. I packed up and moved to Los Angeles.
Since making the transition, I’ve been fortunate to land roles on some incredible television shows, including The Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, The Conners, Dead to Me, and The Resident, among others. Each project has given me the chance to grow as an artist, work with some truly inspiring people, and inspired me to write my own material.
Whether it’s through acting, music, or writing, I love bringing characters to life and connecting with audiences in weird and meaningful ways.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
When I started out, everyone had black-and-white headshots, and we were told never to be memorized for auditions but that paraphrasing was a sin! These days, none of that holds true. I’ve had to unlearn many things that were once ingrained in me as if they were law. The industry evolves—standards shift, technology advances, and culture influences the way we work. If there’s one constant in this business, it’s change, and the only way to thrive is to adapt.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
I’m going to keep it all the way real with you. I had an ex text me “Hey, I just saw you on TV. I miss you.” Ladies and gentlemen, doesn’t get any better than that.
