We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Lynese. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Lynese below.
Lynese, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
Growing up was hard for me because I never really fitted in. I leaned into music more and found my passion for singing at a really young age. People didn’t understand me and didn’t care to but they noticed my love for singing. I would get teased a lot and I would withdraw from time to time. Over time, I learned people don’t like what they can’t understand which is fine. This really helped be build character and to focus on being real instead of being liked.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
Im a Singer- Songwriter born in Rhode Island raised in Atlanta. I grew up listening to different music as my dad was a DJ and sung around the house. My mom noticed I could sing real young and I think that’s what encouraged me to do it more. I taught myself how to sing by listening to Fantasia, Beyonce, Christina Aguilera, etc.
I’m proud of my drive. I’ve been singing ever since I was four and I’m ready to show more of my music and myself with people. I want my future supporters to know that I am passionate about what I do & I love every ounce of what I do. Music is something Ima hold onto for a long time.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I started posting singing videos on Youtube in 2012. I kept it going until I gained a good following. I really believe you gotta stay consistent and pay attention to what your current supporters like but also do what you like and keep things new and exciting.
How can we best help foster a strong, supportive environment for artists and creatives?
OH I can say a lot but the main thing is support your local artists FIRST!!!! I really think we should know the artist next door and build community. We get too caught up in showing love to A- list celebrities, we forget the ones hustling every day of the hour to save up for studio time & a music video, performing at free events just to get their name out etc. SUPPORT THE LOCAL. WE WILL REALLY APPRECIATE IT
