We recently connected with Lyndsy White and have shared our conversation below.
Lyndsy, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Have you been able to earn a full-time living from your creative work? If so, can you walk us through your journey and how you made it happen? Was it like that from day one? If not, what were some of the major steps and milestones and do you think you could have sped up the process somehow knowing what you know now?
Yes, I’ve been able to make a full-time living doing hair, by it definitely didn’t happen overnight. In the beginning, I was focused on getting experience and working on my skills. I truly said “yes” to every appointment, regardless of what it was. It took time to find my style, dream clientele, and confidence to treat my chair like a business, not just a hobby.
The biggest turning point of my career was when I started getting really intentional about the kind of work I wanted to be known for. Once I narrowed in on lived-in colors and bright blondes, and started building consistency within the looks I was creating. Everything started falling into place. My social media became so much more cohesive, helping me attract the right clientele and create a brand that felt authentic to me.
If I could go back, I would tell myself to start focusing on what I wanted from the very beginning.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m a hairstylist and color specialist based in Argyle, TX! I had wanted to do hair since I was about ten, I used to spend hours cutting and styling my dolls’ hair, and that childhood passion never really went away.
Now I specialize in bright, natural-looking blondes and lived-in color that grows out beautifully and fits each client’s lifestyle. I love creating healthy, dimensional blondes and customized looks using a variety of techniques.
I believe what sets me apart is the experience I create behind the chair and consistency in the looks I create. My goal is for every color to feel seamless, elevated, and make the client feel stunning leaving the salon!
One of my biggest accomplishments was being named one of Behind the Chair’s Top 100 for Platinum, being recognized amongst so many artists around the world meant so much to me!
My brand is about authenticity, effortless beauty, and helping people look and feel amazing!

Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
I started building my audience on social media by simply sharing the kind of hair I loved doing. At first, I didn’t have a big strategy; I was just trying to be consistent. Over time, I noticed that the more I showed up authentically and shared insight into who I am, along with my work behind the chair, the more I attracted clients I connected with.
My advice for anyone starting out is, don’t wait for things to be perfect, show your work, show your personality, and engage with people genuinely. You don’t need a huge following to grow your business; you just need the right audience who believes in what you do.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of being a creative is seeing the transformation, not just in someone’s hair but in how they feel about themselves. There’s nothing like the moment a client looks in the mirror and lights up, or tells you they feel more confident and beautiful. A close second is the amazing connections I get to make with people on such a personal level. Every client is unique, and creating something that reflects their personality while showcasing my craft is incredibly fulfilling!
