Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lyndsy Foshion. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Lyndsy, appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to hear the backstory behind a risk you’ve taken – whether big or small, walk us through what it was like and how it ultimately turned out.
The biggest risk I have taken so far in my career was when I left my commission salon and starting working for myself. At the time I had only been in the hair industry for 5 months, and hardly had enough clients to support that move. But it was one that I knew in my heart I needed to make in order to grow as a stylist and business owner. I was terrified at the time, and I just remember telling myself “if you build it they will come” and it’s so true! I did a deep dive into my branding and started working really hard on my social media to attract my dream clients. The growth I experienced was amazing. It was such a scary risk, but it paid off immensely and I am so grateful I did it!

Lyndsy, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I have always had a passion for hair; at 10 years old I knew I wanted to be a hairstylist. Fast forward to now, I have the same passion for hair and love helping women feel beautiful and empowered. I am dedicated to constantly educating myself, and providing the best and newest techniques for my clients. I am best known for my custom blonde looks, using balayage and baby lighting techniques. I love brightening up a person’s look and creating a hair color that enhances their natural beauty. I hope to be a light in my client’s day, and allow my clients to relax and have fun at their appointment. There’s no greater feeling than seeing my client’s smile when I turn them around in the chair!
Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?
Social media has been the biggest blessing in growing my clientele. I started using Instagram and tried to post everyday in the beginning, and it definitely helped bring in some clients. Once I started really focusing on my brand and the type of clients I wanted, I started marketing for that audience and my business completely took off! Social media has also helped me connect with my client’s on a much more personal level, I love seeing what’s going on in their lives and it helps me get to know them and vice versa. I truly believe making genuine connections make a business 10x more successful!

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
Honestly, knowing that everyday, I help someone feel beautiful is the most rewarding aspect of my work. I love it when my clients share selfies or pictures after their appointment, and just seeing how much confidence they gain. Enhancing someone’s natural beauty is truly the best part of my day and I love that I get to connect with some amazing women in the process. When my clients feel good, I feel good, and that’s the best feeling!
