We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Lyncon Martinez a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Lyncon, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
Gather the Gals podcast and ministry began one night at 3 a.m, as I was feeding my colicky baby and crying quietly in the dark. My first son had been a dream, he slept well, ate well, and was the happiest little guy. But my second baby was the complete opposite. He never slept. He cried constantly. I was completely exhausted and felt like I was losing my mind. I loved being a mom, but I was silently asking myself, Is this normal? Is this really it? To feel this alone, anxious, and numb?
It was in that moment, in the middle of the night, that I heard God tell me to start a ministry, that if I couldn’t find the community I craved and needed so badly, I had to start it.
I immediately fought back with excuses. Why me? I’m not qualified. I’m just a pediatric RN. There are already amazing people doing this, but I couldn’t shake the calling. And when I was pregnant with my third child, a little girl, I realized how deeply I still longed for connection. And how much more she would need a Christ centered community one day, too.
So I started. With zero experience and no fancy setup, I chose a random recording platform and sat down with my best friend. We talked honestly about anxiety, motherhood, and Jesus, right from her kitchen, with our kids laughing in the background. It wasn’t perfect by any means, but it was real. That’s exactly what I wanted and needed. Vulnerable conversations with other women who are walking through the same struggles.
I wanted moms to know they’re not alone. That anxiety, comparison, and mom guilt have no place ruling their minds. I wanted others to see that God gave them a beautiful calling and unique gifts. That they were born with purpose and created with intention. I wanted women to feel seen and safe, to have a friend who would sit, listen, and pray over them. No judgment. No drama. Just Jesus, hope, healing, and honest community. I wanted women to see the love of Jesus, the hope He brings, the chains He breaks, the community that He wants us all to have so badly. I wanted to share with other moms that it’s ok that you are struggling, but it’s not okay to struggle alone.
Whether you’ve never opened a Bible or you’ve known Jesus for years, you are welcome here. God loves you in your pain, your struggle, your sin, and your questions. He wants to walk with you, and you don’t have to do it alone. That’s why we gather.
Since starting the show, and my amazing husband, also my high school sweetheart, was my only listener, the show is now a global top 2% podcast that reaches countries all around the world.
Our Gather the Gals online community connects women through Bible studies on Zoom and encourages them to gather their own gals. I write and publish original Bible studies and devotionals. We read Scripture, we talk about it, we journal, brain dump, and pray through it together.
We also support other women owned small businesses with vendor events, podcast live events, and community shoutouts. We believe God gave each of us unique gifts, and we want to help bring those gifts to life and cheer you on in the race He’s marked out for you.
We keep our eyes on Jesus, our Savior, our peace, our freedom. He’s the one who carries us through every season and gives every day purpose.

Lyncon, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Lyncon Martinez, mom of 3, wife to my high school sweetheart, pediatric RN and the Founder of Gather the Gals, a global Christian podcast, ministry, and growing community for women who are hungry for more of Jesus and ready to walk in their God given purpose.
I started this journey in the thick of motherhood, navigating sleepless nights, and the quiet ache of wondering if I was the only one who felt like this? I craved more than surface level connection and knew other women did too. I longed for a space where we could gather around the truth of God’s Word, encourage one another, and remind each other that we’re not alone in our struggles, doubts, and dreams. That desire turned into a podcast, which, by God’s grace, has grown into a top 2% global show for Christian women.
Through the Gather the Gals Community, I offer:
Weekly podcast episodes that speak to the everyday woman of faith, covering topics like comparison, anxiety, purpose, identity, and trusting God in hard seasons.
Monthly downloadable Bible studies to help women engage with Scripture in simple but powerful ways.
A private community membership where women can grow deeper in the Word, join live studies and prayer groups, promote their small businesses, and find encouragement from other women.
Guest teachings, workshops, and webinars on both spiritual growth and practical life topics, faith, motherhood, purpose, entrepreneurship, and more.
Small business features and collaborations to support women owned businesses and provide a platform where faith and purpose intersect with creativity and entrepreneurship.
I help women move from feeling stuck, anxious and overwhelmed, to feeling rooted, confident, and connected, to Jesus, to their purpose, and to other women. What sets Gather the Gals apart is its authenticity. We’re not just another faith-based platform, we’re a living, breathing community that believes in the power of showing up messy, praying boldly, and choosing faith over fear, together. Turning away from sin and the ways of the world and stepping into all God has for us. To be obedient to Him alone.
I’m most proud of the community God is building here, of the messages I receive from women, and the ways they open up and share just to help someone else out. That’s why I do what I do. That’s why I stepped back from being a pediatric RN and chasing my own wordly ways and finally obeyed God and what He wanted for my life. Yes, I still love being a nurse and still work PRN, but this is my passion too. It’s not about fame, followers, or money, it’s about helping serve people well with the gifts God gave you. I want women to fall in love with Jesus, live out their calling, and know that they were never meant to do life alone.
If you’re looking for a space like this, you’ve found it, and we would love to have you join!

Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
There was a moment in running Gather the Gals when I felt stuck. I remember thinking, How can I keep going? Am I really just going to keep talking about the same things? I felt a little burnt out, a little unsure of what was next, and I knew I needed fresh direction.
So, I prayed. I asked God, What now? What do you want this to look like? I don’t want this to be my platform, but yours. And in that quiet space, I felt Him speak to my heart and tell me that I needed to pivot and go another direction.
That’s when I met one of my now closest friends, a cancer survivor with a powerful testimony. She randomly reached out to me after that prayer. I brought her on the podcast to share her story, and something clicked. Her words, her strength, her faith, it wasn’t just encouragement for me. It was ministry for every woman listening. That moment changed everything.
I realized that Gather the Gals didn’t have to be just my voice, it is a community. It could be a space where any woman could share her story, her struggles, and the way God has been faithful through it all. I started inviting more women on, moms, entrepreneurs, survivors, dreamers, and it became a place for real stories that truly help other women feel less alone.
I remember trying to pitch myself to other podcasts early on and being told, “Sorry, you don’t have enough followers,” or being asked to pay thousands of dollars just to be interviewed. It broke my heart, not just for me, but for every woman with a story that needed to be told.
So I created the kind of space I wish existed: a platform where any woman can come as she is and be heard, without needing a big following or fancy title. Just a willing heart and a God story. Because I believe God doesn’t waste our pain, He uses it to reach someone else who needs the hope we’ve found.
That pivot is what made Gather the Gals what it is today, a place where women are free to show up, be real, and be reminded that their story has purpose, meaning and can help someone else out.

Can you talk to us about how you funded your business?
Honestly, this is something I wish more people understood, you don’t have to start with perfection. You don’t need the perfect branding, expensive office space, or the ideal launch strategy. What you need is obedience to God, and the willingness to say yes even when you’re unsure how it will all come together.
Starting Gather the Gals wasn’t easy. As a pediatric RN with three kids, stepping away from nursing was financially challenging, but I knew in my heart that God was calling me to this ministry in that season.
My sweet husband was the first to believe in the vision. He bought me my very first microphone, a new computer, and a few simple things to help get the podcast off the ground. It wasn’t fancy, but it was enough. And I truly believe God honors our small beginnings when we trust Him with them.
To this day, the podcast and ministry are completely funded through faith and sponsorships. We rely on generous individuals and brand partners who believe in what we’re doing and want to help us keep going. When someone joins our Gather the Gals Community, or chooses to sponsor an episode, it means so much, not just financially, but spiritually. It’s a way of saying, “I believe in this mission too.”
At the end of the day, this whole thing has been built by simply trusting God to provide. He has, in the most unexpected and beautiful ways. And I’ve learned that obedience always opens the door for provision.
