Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Lydia Richard . We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Hi Lydia, thanks for joining us today. What were some of the most unexpected problems you’ve faced in your business and how did you resolve those issues?
One primary unexpected problem was facing my uncertainty with myself. When I got into the field of Real Estate and more into a corporate world, I found myself facing the internal dilemma of Imposter Syndrome to the extreme. I fell prisoner to my own discomfort of myself and how I wanted to show up in the world to gain respect. I had washed my Instagram of anything subjected to how bizarre I actually am and rebranded myself completely. There were times I felt ashamed to leave my house because I “farmed” the area and didn’t want any potential clients to see me in my messy mom form. It wasn’t until I spent 5 months off social media and took a deeper dive into myself, my spirituality and what I want to do for humanity in my life, that allowed me to break free from my own self restrictions due to societal beliefs and just be the expansive helping human I am. That is where “The Unconventional Professional” was born. I quickly realized that if I truly wanted to help serve humanity in the niches I feel most drawn too, finance and self-improvement, I have to embody both of those aspects and remain true to myself in the midst of my development. To inspire others to go after their freedom, to live in their truth and to share their message of wisdom.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
It started from my upbringing around the mentality of lack and its impact on my life moving forward. I taught myself most of what I know about finance, how to organize it, how to diversify it, how to make it work for me, and generally how to obtain it. Through many trials and errors I have found working smarter, not harder, is the way out of this societal 9-5 “matrix.” Reframing what my relationship with money looks like, as well as how I manage it, played a massive role in my success. I created my brand to target audiences that lacked that guidance growing up, the example to follow, or the healthy patterns to pick up on. My mission is to teach people not only how to generate passive income through creating their own online business but also how to manage the money that comes in, as well as utilize their authenticity and wisdom to help service the world, help service them and their families. Starting with my personally crafted step-by-step courses where I teach people the essential skills to investing and becoming financially literate, I also encourage spiritual growth alongside it – through awareness, gratitude, expansion of belief systems, and help to teach the hopeless that there is hope. When you live a true expression of life mixed with knowledge and skillsets, you can obtain the life of freedom we all genuinely crave. Freedom to me looks like access to money everywhere you are, to acquire the tool of money to life a fruitful life, to serve others without the cost to your family, to enjoy family to their maximum capacity – because that’s what I believe life should be about and we shouldn’t settle for less.

How about pivoting – can you share the story of a time you’ve had to pivot?
A moment I had to pivot was when I realized the corporate world was destroying my sense of self in attempts to gain more business – uncovering my internal conflict of taking up too much space. I spent 5 months off social media to dissect what I found important to me, those boiled down to quality time, self expression, serving others and enjoying my freedom to travel.
That is when I found digital marketing and beginning my own online business – where freedom reigns, authenticy pays and my hand to my community felt more rewarding than only handing keys and filing paperwork. Although that is a beautiful experience I am honored to be a part of, I knew my mission was more.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A lesson I had to unlearn was quanity over quality. I began my online growth jounrey in January and found myself making enough content to post three times a day as suggested for growth online – I soon discovered it was the videos i poured more of myself into, my rawness, realness, is what got the engagement I seeked to improve my business. It then reaffirmed in my head that the truth is what people seek and truth is quality. With so much confusion and delusion online, i think to deliver a sense of “human-ness” is what this world really needs and appreciates. You wont be for everybody, but you dont want to be.
